Granny Smith....
They are favoured for their Tart taste and Crisp texture....also the green skin is a nice contrast to the Creamy Brown Carmel.
When selecting your apples it is wise to chose smaller , firm apples...samller ones will allow for more coating to apple ratio and smaller apples tend to have fewer or less(if any ) seed!

Ha, this jogs my memory of decrease back in extreme college my buddy Nancy and that i went to McDonalds to get sundays and the cashier became quite warm so even as the guy requested us if we needed nuts Nancy replied "yeah obviously, my buddy loves nuts!" She meant it in a unclean way yet yeah...besides. i love caramel apples without nuts although.

It all depends opn your taste. Any firm apple will do. Best are Gala, fuji and Granny smith

I think I like a tart apple for that, since everything else is so sweet, but it's hard to say.
