I really, really, really, really, really, really, really dislike my stepfather. In fact, I always wished he'd cheat on my mother so she'd leave the bastard. Unfortunately, I am not so lucky.

He was very emotionally and verbally abusive. And because of him, my mother and I have a very strained relationship. She chose her husband over her daughter, and didn't protect me from the abuse. But, oh well. Life sucks sometimes, doesn't it? My parents will be the ones to deal with the consequences of their actions.

Understand the man, and release the hatered. As the saying goes, we tend to worship or fear the things we don't understand. Remember your father is that way for a reason. . .maybe he had a tyrannical father If you don't try to reconcile your hatred your hate will consume you. Understanding is less destructive than hatred.

Lot's of parents threaten 2 kill their kids but never do it it's only because he loves you he's being so harsh with you for coming in late.

Have you all ways had a bad relationship with him or is it just as your growing up that you fine him so embarrassing?
I bet what you find embarrassing others find funny and wish their dad's was as funny and full of life as your dad.

Love him for what he is he's the only dad your have and your miss him like hell when he's gone.

Yes, I literally hated my father....for what he did to me while I was growing up. He sexually molested me and my 2 sisters all during our growing up years and had each of us so intimidated that we never even told each other til well after we were out of the house, married and on our own. I was the one who finally confronted what he had done through a letter to him and he showed it to my mom whom he told her it was a lie...that it had only happened one time. I guess she believed him, but I never did and I refused to let my kids go near either of them. But, to make a long story short, I eventually "forgave" him, but never forgot and never got close to him ever again. Well, he committed suicide the day after Christmas 2000, and to this day I miss him. I wish he were still here to at least be a part of my life, although it would never be a close relationship because of what had happened, but he was still the only father I would ever have.
So, count yourself lucky that your problems aren't as mine or many others were.......shake it off, grin and bear it. Someday he will be gone and you will be glad to have him back being embarrassing or whatever except sexually abusive.

Hate is such a harsh word for someone dear, especially for one of your parents. You should make amends and stay away from the hatred because he's not promised to be there forever...As long as you stay under his roof, you should respect his rules.

You'll have your own kids one day and the situation may occur to you....Good luck

Are you speaking of your parents or your father in particularly. If you are in a legal age, just get away and be independent. But if you need to stick around for a while, you will have to control your feelings. Unless he is abusive or molesting you, he is only being controlling and dominarian. Just forgive him.

don't hate your father for those reasons. I hate mine becaus he broke into my house, stole my things, ripped up my pictures and wrote all over them. you should hate your dad if he is a jerk....not because he embarrases you. You need to learn humility. who cares what everyone else thinks. love your father b/c he is there for you.
