Growth charts plot height and weight versus age (in months/years). They usually have a band for height and weight. The middle line of the band is prominently indicated.

Consider the height band. The middle line represents the average height. If the height is below the middle line (for a given age), then the child's height is below average. Otherwise above average.

The lower and upper boundaries indicate how much the deviation from the average is. The upper boundary is such that 90% (or 95% in some charts) are have height less than the value shown. The lower boundary is such that 10% (or 5% in some charts) are below the value indicated.

Measure your child's height and weight. Look up the chart for the age. Is it above or below the line? How above or below? Easy to figure out?

The old wives tale was however tall your child is at the age of 3or 4 dont remember for sure,double that it should be close
