My dogs have had several litter of only one pup, as I often breed to older retired low fertility males, just to have a chance at an exceptional pup..
they ALL have done extremely well, and turn out really well behaved, as mom has so much time to devote to caring for, and training her one puppy..Mom stays very happy too!

I've just looked on the Preloved website & there 609 adverts for puppies
http://www.preloved.co.uk/fuseaction-adverts.listadverts/sec-Home%20and%20Family/cat-Pets%20and%20Livestock/subcat-Dogs/fd71d669.html#CreateUrl()#
though I must admit that a couple of those might be adverts from people wanting to adopt a puppy ... I suppose that you could always advertise on there yourself?
Failing that look in petshop & newsagents windows - sometimes they have ads. Or try your local paper ... it might even have a classified section that you can access online (then you don't even need to buy it).
Good luck

Later - oops, I've answered incorrectly, I think - you're looking for orphaned puppies or for someone whose dog has had too many puppies & is unable to cope? If you've already tried the vets & shelters then it may be difficult. I have friends who breed dogs & they, if there are any problems, normally rear the puppies themselves by handfeeding - you might find that pedigree dog breeders would be concerned that there valuable pups were exposed to other environments ... though of course, there may be someone out there really searching for someone to help. Why not look on the Champdogs site for breeders near your or try your local yellow pages?
However, your dog will be perfectly happy with her one pup & her milk production will change to compensate ... & if you play with the pup enough, then he/she isn't going to miss having siblings quite so much. So I shouldn't worry if you can find any orphan puppies out there.

I found my dog through Craig's List (craigslist.org)...Just be careful--you should make sure that the person adopting out wants to "interview" you, see where you live, has all health papers, etc. You want to know they care about the well-being of this dog and aren't passing along a sick dog that can cost a fortune (or sadly, could die suddenly). If you follow the steps listed on shelter sites for adoption, Craig's List can work for you.

Every one wants pups so they pretty much always have a price tag and do not require fostering.
Older dogs are offered for free because they are unwanted.

Try Petfinder on the net and check with rescue groups in or near your area. They are usually looking for foster parents for pets til they can find them a forever home.
Good luck and bless you.

dogs that are older does NOT mean they would be a wasted choice,The pound/shelter has many great pets,i know if you took the time to check them out,YOU WOULD FIND A GREAT COMPANION THAT will give every bit of love / cuddling that a pup would!,and you would be saving its life,i,msure it will be a rewarding for both !!

Go into local vet's, they often have notices where people who need to find homes for dogs and puppies advertise. Maybe give your local vets a ring.
