You are exactly right also it is important to have self integrity that mean being truthful to your self as well as others .Jesus taught just 1 main rule which covered gentiles this was " treat others as you want to be treated" put simply not his actual words but with this one sentence he was clever enough that by obeying that simple rule you were obeying the 10 commandments .Un fortunately The Jewish in the early days and still a morjority today have to live by the ten commandments .An interesting point which always has puzzled me is that present day Jews wont even turn the light on in there house during the sabath or pass over however I can go to their house and turn it on they accept this easily .Yes I have done it but they cant explain why it is ok for me to do it in their house and they cant to me that is very strange .No offence ment to any religion race or color is intended in this answer .If you are offended I ask for your forgiveness .Only by living in harmony with others can we have a world free of wars terrors

Thinking for yourself and applying your character consistently.
Morality is not about trying to live up to a strict list of rules. That's just blindly following someone else. Instead, you should learn from the people around you and figure out who to work well among other people. That's the purpose of morality, to help people live amongst each other in relative peace. To do this effectively requires actually thinking about the issues and situations and reasoning out what the best course of action is.
Also, you should consider how you are viewed by other people. That's your character. Your character is important because you have to deal with people to do anything in life. If you are known as an honest person, people will trust what you say. If you are known as a reliable person, people will trust what you do.

That's common, and quite good. The only weakness is needing a method for determining the "right thing". Evolution gives the answer; it applies to societies as well as to species, and any society which has a sound moral code will survive preferentially to one that doesn't. This gives us an algorithm for making moral judgments: an action is moral if it enhances the society, immoral if it degrades, and morally neutral if it does neither.

No such animal. Morals vary from culture to culture and within cultures.
Determining exactly what you believe moral integrity is means that you will judge everyone by that determination and, Imposing one's morality on others is what causes all the wars in the world.
Stick to integrity alone, which is being true to your own spirit, true to your own personal belief system. And, keep it to yourself.
What you do and how you are will speak volumes for your belief system. Let it shine for itself because after all, you had nothing to do with the creation of any belief system you adopted and there really isn't a chance that you or your morals are, in any way, original.
Not to shatter your ego or be mean, just truth. Private truth.

Yes it also mean doing the right thing like when your conscience conflicts with your religious beliefs. I mean real conscience. Story. Two monks where crossing a river. There was a lady with one leg wanting to cross and asked for help. One Monk took her across. Three hours later the other monk said "Why did you carry that woman across the river we are renounced monks and do not touch women. The other monk said" I put her down three hours ago and you are still carrying her." Go to www.essene.org fro the truth on Christ. I also think it means to always seek truth and what God wants us to do. Not just religion but absolute truth. go to www.stephan-knapp.com for universal truths
