I'm tired of these namby pamby complaints from people about how mean people are being by questioning their opinions/beliefs? Does anyone recognize the value of criticism? There are certainly opinions and beliefs I hold that are not true. I'm a human being, and this is unavoidable. If I try to insulate myself from criticism, how will I ever become aware of my errors? We don't get closer to the truth by latching onto certain ideas and protecting them. Am I alone in this view? Feel free to be as ruthless and cruel in criticizing my ideas/opinions as you please, by the way. I will be OK!

P. S. I wasn't really sure what section to post this question in, but it seems relevant to religion more than any other area.

Criticism and disrespect are two separate things. Most of us hate criticism but it's not something we complain about in a namby pamby way, however very few of us tolerate disrespect. And far too many slap the term critisism onto disrespectful actions and pretend as if they're doing nothing wrong.

I am totally open to criticism too! I think that's what yahoo answers is supposed to be used for, but most people go on just to criticize others. When they recieve criticism back, then they start complaining...i dont like it either.

Congratulations on being one of the rare people who can see things this way. I am in the first truly healthy relationship of my life, because both of us are brutally honest about ourselves with ourselves and each other.
The flip side to that is the compassion we have for each other.

It's not what you say, but how you say it!!!
Yes, we need to be open to criticism.
Yes, we need to find the sensitivity to deliver our messages in ways that foster growth, not pain and resentment.
100% of the time? Well, nobody's perfect. Effort that leads to 99% will do.

Hopefully, you are intelligent enough to know that there two types of criticisms: Destructive and Constructive. Unbelievers and pessimistic filth are incapable of giving positivity results but only mocking, scoffing and false claims. Your truths is Not my personal truths so you and the other who are not here for the right reasons are wasting space.

Criticism is supposed to be the trait we see in others that we also have and don't like in our selves. Yes many people are overly sensitive.

That's a good idea. Facing opposition is a good way to help one's critical thinking skills and to help strengthen one's beliefs.
