i have sat with my legs crossed probably starting when i was ten now i am thirty five. i cross them every time i sit down, eventually after a long priod of crossing my top leg gets numb, and i keep them crossed. i have heard that crossing your legs can cause vein problems, i dont have any at all to this point, but is it true that it is bad? because if it is i will try to break my habbit if i isnt i want to keep crossing them because its so comfortable. Also do you cross your legs, and for how long at a time

Leg crossing can and does cause circulation issues. If you legs are going numb then you are most likely experiecing that circulaton issue.
Perhaps just sit with them crossed for short periods of time?
I do not cross my legs...I have vericose veins that I'd like to not make worse.

I have heard it is bad and can cause problems
if not now later in life
and don't you remember hearing on TV about people getting blood clots from traveling long periods of time and not getting up and stretching their legs like going across the Atlantic in an air plane....
I know it is a habit and I do it too, but i catch myself and try to not do it as often
good luck

I have crossed my legs since I was 2.......and I am 28 now......if your legs get numb that means you are cutting off circulation and you need to uncross them......yes it can cause vein problems.....but more importantly it causes circulation problems in you lower legs and feet......you can still cross them but just make sure you arent cutting off the circulation and if they become numb uncross them so that the blood can return to your legs.......I can usually cross my legs for about 30 minutes before i need to move them and let the blood circulate.......

It is indeed unhealthy to continually cross your legs, and the fact that you experience numbness indicates that yes you do have venous damage and insufficiency as a result. Stop crossing them now and you might be able avoid further problems, like peripheral artery disease, varicose veins and pedal edema.

Whatever the reason some people; doctors and other quacks; you need to change your diet to include more fruits and vegetables and use herbal cayenne powder on all of your normal food. This cleanses the blood and thins it to where you never have these numb problems ever again. And it only takes about 5 days for your system to acclimate itself to the cayenne powder. Cayenne powder is one of if not the strongest natural healer of bodily problems on earth.

I have been going to a chiropractor for a while now and i had a little curvature of my lower spine. I don't know what caused it but i do believe that i was told that it was bad...think about it, if you cross your legs it causes your spinal column to tilt. Long term tilt can cause problems....

I've heard that it gives you bad circulation in your legs and causes varicose veins... But I'm not a Dr so you might want to look it up.
