I would mix flour with milk (or water) and an egg. (1 cup flour, 1 egg, then enough milk until the batter drains off the tines of a fork in 5-10 seconds)
I would make really sure that the veggies are dry then dip and fry quickly in hot oil. If the veggies are not dry, the batter will not hold.

Go look in the Asian food section of your grocery store. There is a batter mix you can get that is great for veggies. It's called Tempura batter mix. You can make your own version, but this one is just as good as home made, if not better and easier.

As at least one other person has mentioned, www.foodnetwork.com is sure to have at least one, if not more. I'm assuming since you're battering them, they're gonna be fried?
I don't have any specific recipes, as I've never battered vegetables, but I would think flour and water w/ certain spices would be an easy one. Look at a cook-book (I'm sure your local library has at least one).
Sorry I couldn't be more help.

Google "tempura batter".
Zucchini or small yellow squash are good, so is cauliflower & broccoli. I always meant to try pea pods. Onions are really good, a few times we did cheese curds and once, little smokies.
Shrimp is also good this way.
