when he 'canonised' the Qur'an destroyed some of the original surahs? Also an archaeologist called Arthur Jeffrey apparantly discoveredQur'anic texts written prior to the canonisation, and there are differences.

As I understand it, the only people who seem to have heard of him are Christians who want to refute Islam. The only person of that name that comes up on search engines is a physicist. However, I can't find a 'coherent' Islamic respose to this. I'm not a Muslim, and if the Qu'ran was altered and edited to omit contradictory sections, I'd like to know. Alternatively, if this is rubbish, then Christianity is spreading a lie, and i dare say that Christians would benefit from knowing this. I hope that you'll all tolerate a bit of controversy in the interests of finding out the truth.

there is not any replica of an Uthman Quran. The oldest Quran is written in Kuffic and specialists say it replaced into written over one hundred fifty years after the dying of Mohammad. there is not any evidence that Uthman ever wrote a Quran.

As I understand it, Uthman replaced parts of the Quran where contradictions did not suit him. "Originals"are commonly displayed on websites alongside "today's version" and references are commonly found in related literature. Having been responsible for creating the Quran from , recollections, memories and whatever material remained, what sense in looking for the" truth behind the fiction". Do you expect any religion to say "we faked it" ?

A good question. I know nothing of the activities of Uthman about which you inquire, but the Qur'an has enough discrepancies in its present rendition to render it more than a bit suspect. It also has some errors, one of which is serious. If you learn anything more about the Arthur Jeffrey story, I'd be delighted if you would forward it to me via avatar. No need here to go into the errors in the bible, which are both numerous and flagrant.

Khalifah Uthman did destroy some of the Quran that were different in version.. bcoz some sahabis kept a compilation of Quran themselves, and bcoz of this, Uthman took the compilation by Abu Bakr, which was kept by Hafsah and he publicise that Quran.. he made copies of the Quran, then send it worldwide, and the other versions of Quran were to be destroyed bcoz it may contain slight discrepancies..

Firstly, you asking for truth from a set of religious beliefs - that in itself is a contradiction. There are no truths in religion, only beliefs. These beliefs are based on centuries of writings by human beings (almost exclusively men) in the context of their times and for specific purposes. These are not truths in any rational, testable sense.

It doesn't matter which religion you choose, they all suffer from the same fundamental flaw - they are all based on reams of untestable none-sense handed down in corrupted writings taken completely out of context.

It's most likely that religion evolved because it briefly offered some survival advantage to those practising it - probably by uniting them in common cause and disciplining them to behave in a mutually beneficial manner. I say briefly because the dinosaurs had no religion, but managed to stay around for tens of millions of years longer than is likely for us humans!

However, religion is now a constant obstacle to peace and a cause of widespread division and is therefore now a positive disadvantage to progress. It's time to get rid of all religions and to work together in a humane and rational way in order to improve the world for everyone.

There can be no proof or otherwise of questions about gods - any gods - so why bother? Let's stop wasting human lives in the pursuit of utter rubbish and get on with the constructive and useful task of making the world a genuinely better place to live in regardless of why we are here.

No he did not. Do U think that when Mohammed (pbuh) was alive and every time he rcvs a msg from Angel Gabriel or when the Angel recites the Quran for him to learn it off by heart, he would keep it to himself? He immediately goes back home or to see his many faithfull followers to tell them of what he heart. When U R entrusted with such amount of information, U save it in a disc at least (very simple example). The Prophet, as most trusted as he was, always told what he hears. It was also kept off in the memories of his men/friends. If anyone dares to change a verse, the others will object. When Uthman decided it is better written, than kept in different scripts scattered with many faithful men, he did not do it alone, many gathered to compare.
In any case, I don't care what others think of my Holy Book, I believe in it.

this is absolutely not true!!

the Quran is exactly as it was revealed more than 1400 years ago. it was already revealed and memorized by many many 1000s of Muslims before they even think of putting it in a book.

people memorized it by heart.

christians are spreading all kinds of lies to try to refute Islam, they make up things to attack the message of Islam. do you think a institution like the Vatican would let Islam out number christianity? they are scared to death for whatever reason.

61:8 Their intention is to extinguish Allah's Light (by blowing) with their mouths: But Allah will complete (the revelation of) His Light, even though the Unbelievers may detest (it).

From my understanding God has mentioned clearly in the Holy Quran but not the Holy Bible or Holy Torah that no human bieng can alter the Quran and that is controlled by him.
