Revelation 3:20
Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me.

To what purpose is the multitude of your sacrifices unto me? Saith the Lord: I am full of the burnt offerings of rams, and the fat of fed beasts: and I delight not in the blood of bulls or cows, or of lambs, or of goats. When ye spread forth your hands, I will hide Mine eyes from you: yea, when ye make many prayers, I will not hear, for your hands are full of blood." Isaiah 1:11, 15 He that killeth an ox is as if he slew a man.'' Isaiah 66:3 Though shalt not Kill
My point is if we actually want to get closer to God we have to stop supporting animal slaughter by eating meat. first, you can get to know god, and be close, but you have to commit to reading his word, and meditating on it,
A bible study with JEhovah's witnesses would be helpful
( in the phone book, no cost)
(James 4:7-8) . . .. 8 Draw close to God, and he will draw close to YOU. . . .
(1 John 5:3) 3 For this is what the love of God means, that we observe his commandments; and yet his commandments are not burdensome,
(Psalm 83:18) 18 That people may know that you, whose name is Jehovah, You alone are the Most High over all the earth.
( when you meet someone, the first thing you get to know is their name
this is gods personal name, please read it from your own copy of the bible, in fact all the scriputers here)

18The former regulation is set aside because it was weak and useless 19(for the law made nothing perfect), and a better hope is introduced, by which we draw near to God. (Heb 7)
"Their sins and lawless acts I will remember no more." 18And where these have been forgiven, there is no longer any sacrifice for sin. 19Therefore, brothers, since we have confidence to enter the Most Holy Place by the blood of Jesus, 20by a new and living way opened for us through the curtain, that is, his body, 21and since we have a great priest over the house of God, 22let us draw near to God with a sincere heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled to cleanse us from a guilty conscience and having our bodies washed with pure water. 23Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for he who promised is faithful. (Heb 10)
"You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all of your heart." (Jer ?)
15"If you love me, you will obey what I command. 16And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Counselor to be with you forever-- 17the Spirit of truth. The world cannot accept him, because it neither sees him nor knows him. But you know him, for he lives with you and will be in you. 18I will not leave you as orphans; I will come to you. (Jn 14)

Matt 10:21 And the brother shall deliver up the brother to death, and the father the child: and the children shall rise up against their parents, and cause them to be put to death.
Matt 10:34 Think not that I am come to send peace on earth: I came not to send peace, but a sword.
Matt 10:35 For I am come to set a man at variance against his father, and the daughter against her mother, and the daughter in law against her mother in law.
Matt 10:36 And a man's foes shall be they of his own household.
Matt 10:37 He that loveth father or mother more than me is not worthy of me: and he that loveth son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me.
you'll know you're closer to God when you love Jesus more than you love your family.

Hebrews 10:22
let us draw near to God with a sincere heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled to cleanse us from a guilty conscience and having our bodies washed with pure water.
Deuteronomy 4:29
But if from there you seek the LORD your God, you will find him if you look for him with all your heart and with all your soul.
Proverbs 8:17
I love those who love me, and those who seek me find me.
1 Thessalonians 5:16-18
16Rejoice evermore.
17Pray without ceasing.
18In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.
Jeremiah 33:3 "Call to Me and I will answer you, and show you great and unsearchable things you do not know"
Matthew 6:6
But when you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father, who is unseen. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you.
"Ye are of God little children, and have overcome them: Because greater is HE that is in you, than he that is in the world" 1 John 4:4
Job 33:26
then man prays to God, and he accepts him;he sees his face with a shout of joy,and he restores to man his righteousness.
Psalm 51:12
Restore to me the joy of your salvation, and uphold me with a willing spirit.
--Ok I could be here ALL day! There are TONS of verses for you to dwell on- But continue praying and asking the Lord to give you WISDOM. Just keep your mind focused on HIM....and listen to some good worship music too- That is one thing that really draws me away from the world and back into my peace and comfort of God- I want to be in that place always too!

Colossians 3:18 "Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as it is fit in the Lord."
Apparently, for a woman to get closer to god, she has to go through the husband.
Ephecians 5:22-24 ""Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as unto the Lord. For the husband is the head of the wife." Wives must submit to their husbands "in every thing" as though they were Christ. "For the husband is the head of the wife."
