If one of the persons is Catholic, a marriage is not valid unless there is a priest as a witness or the couple gets permission from the diocese to be married by another person. It is traditional to get married inside of the church because that is the usual gathering place of the faithful, but you can get permission to get married elsewhere if you have a valid reason.
If the two people are Christian, the marriage is considered valid to the Catholic Church

I went by way of the identical factor. I was once a Catholic who went to church considering I was once intended to. I was once invited to a Christian church by means of a loved ones member who additionally was once Catholic. When I was once leaving the Christian church, I was once pleasantly amazed considering I had honestly discovered anything! So I went once more. We learn from the Bible and bet what - I discovered anything new that week as good. That was once so fresh. It wasn't repetitious and rancid. Then I began to suppose God - and spot Him as a worrying God as an alternative than far-off and unreachable. He is talking immediately to you. Yes, it's as much as you to prefer whether or not you are going to comply with His smooth prompting or now not. Jeremiah 29:thirteen "You will search me and uncover me whilst you search me with your whole center." He loves you greater than you are going to ever be in a position to appreciate. He needs you to be close Him. Your existence shall be so blessed should you do. Go someplace that you've got peace and quiet then ask Him with a real center what He might such as you to do. Be open to His guideline. And thank Him for being God and for loving you so extensively. Don't allow anybody attempt to sway you clear of Him. They absolutely wouldn't have your nice curiosity in brain. If you have got any questions, please don't hesitate to touch me. :)

All the answers above are incorrect.
You can have a whole fleet of priests witness your marriage in any chapel and it's still invalid in the eyes of the church.
However, afterwards, you can get a blessing during mass that validates it.
Talk to a priest about how to obtain this. You don't have to go through a whole other marriage ceremony.

It doesnt matter if the so-called Catholic Church recognizes it or not - the only thing that matters is if GOD accepts the wedding.
If two people both truly love each other and feel that they are their destined soulmates, then the marriage will be accepted and blessed by God.

No, not if you are trying to be a catholic in "good standing." They want you to marry according to catholic rites. Priest needs his stipend, ya know?

Who cares? Their opinion doesn't matter as much as the couple's opinion on the issue.
