I have a home daycare and don't want to give out my SS#. How do I go about getting a tax id #?

If you are not going to have any employees, you do not need an EIN (Employer Identification Number).

You can actually apply online for it at irs.gov, Form SS-4.

you can go to IRS.GOV and apply on line. Use the employer ein area and follow the steps. It should take between five and ten minutes and they will issue you an id# right then and there.

You can go to your County Assessor's Office and give the address of the home daycare and they will give you the tax ID.
