American and Southwest are pretty good. I would not recommend United at all.

I'm not a big fan of the ancient DC-9's that Northwest flies. I like Continental domestically, and they still serve meals on their flights (at least from the west coast). I've never had an issue with Delta. I don't really like how United splits it's coach section in 2 (Enconomy Plus and Economy Minus). Souwthwest seems like a cattle car, JetBlue has issues, and I've had some not so great experiences with American.

Frontier has been my favorite. The planes are newer then most. The seats seem bigger and a little bit roomier.
From watching the show "airline" on A&E about Southwest, I would never fly with them. They tend to say that everyone is either to drunk to fly, or they are overweight and need to buy 2 seats. The seem to have poor customer service when it comes to handling situtaions like those.

Midwest Airlines. They are the best care in the air. The entire plane (717 models) are entirely set up in a first class layout. The seats are nice and big with extendable headrests and footrests that fold down from the seat in front of you. Also, fresh baked chocolate chip cookies are one of their trademarks. Midwest also has the best buy on board food program with the excellent meals served by Mader's, a restaurant in Milwaukee. I have never had a problem with Midwest and I have had close to 50 flights with them.

My favorite airline is virgin atlantic for boston to london flights (business class) and my other favorite is britsh airways. I also enjoy delta. the problem is that they all suck sometimes. It just depends on the aircraft you get and the flight attendant crew.
Sometimes I fly jetblue and it is the best ever.

I always have liked American. Plus the one trip I take a year, American has the best flight plan from my area to Central Ohio.

Southwest is the one I like best. Friendly service and more roomy planes. Better prices too.

I like Southwest. Their cattle call seating thing makes me anxious, but they have the nicest people working for them.
