My cat had two kittens and when trying to determine the sex from their private areas we think we have determined which is which, but we are a little confused as it seems the male cat has nipples. Does anyone know if they should have or are we wrong completely.

Male cats do have nipples.

It depends on how old they are. When they are first born, it is often easier. However, because of some swelling due to the stresses of birth, the sex may turn out to be something different than it first appears.

Normally, the backend of the male kitten, under the tail, should look like a colon (:). The top dot is the anus, the bottom dot is where the penis is sheathed.

Normally, the backend of the female kitten, under the tail, should look line an upside doen exclamation point(! turned upside down). The top dot is the anus, the bottom line is the entrance to the vagina.

I find that between a few days and a week of age, sex identification can be tricky. By the time the kitttens are two weeks old, it should be relatively easy.

Good luck!

all male animals have nipples. Have a look at any male human you know. Sexing kittens is easy. At the back end, if the 2 holes are close together you have a female. If they are further apart you have males. Hopefully you will not let the kittens go to new homes before they are 10-12 weeks old and hopefully you will have her neutered before she has another litter.

Yes, male cats have nipples, just like male humans do.

yes, male cats have nipples. It can be difficult to be certain of the sex of your kittens unless you are a vet or run a cattery. One way you might be able to tell is by looking at their genitals. If the slit runs front to back it is probably a female, and if it runs side to side it is probably a male. Otherwise you may just have to wait until testicles drop! Usually at around 7 months, tho I did have one whos testicles dropped when he was only 5 weeks! Good luck with your kitties!

Yes males have nipples, best way to tell them apart, the female parts are close together and males are far apart.

Yes, male cats have nipples, with newborn kittens it is sometimes tough to tell the sexes, you may want to pop them into your vets and have the tech look at them real quick for you.
I'd be happy to do it for you, but I'm in Houston! :-}

Good luck with the kitties!
