I AM TRYING to HELP MY PARENTS PROVE THEIR CHEROKEE HISTORY.

Hey azulojos2...,

You can do this several ways, but the best is with records. Get your parents birth records. Look carefully at them and get their parents (your grandparents) names, dates and places of birth. Now get their records. Exhaust this process as much as you can, it may take months.

If you know which grandparent contributes most to the Cherokee ancestory go after that set of records.

Dawes is listed below, check the register for any of your ancestors that you know. Fill in the records as you go through this process.

Also, here are some other Cherokee sites to start the registration process, research on, etc. Keep looking!

Oh, yes, also, DNA proves absolute that they do or do not have Native American ancestry, and some of this can be done at no cost.
