Nobody knows what God does or doesn't want us to do with our bodies. I'm a confirmed, practicing Catholic, but I recognize the fact that the Bible is a collection of stories written by man. A lot of them have good morals, and lot are a source of great strength for people. But many were written to try to explain to people ways of keeping their bodies healthy, so that tribes and villages didn't suffer as many diseases, infections, and death. Now adays, we don't need the bible to explain to us how to remain healthy.

I consider people who judge other people to be a slap in the face. If you believe that God is almighty, then you would believe that he created these things, the drugs, the food, etc. Some people are fat because they have a faulty thyroid gland. The same gland that God gave them! People can be peaceful and God loving and still smoke and have tattoos. We, as people, are far from perfect. Lots of people are born without "whole" bodies or with bad health problems. I don't think that they feel as if they are a slap in the face to God, do you? I don't.

Well, maybe they have a problem God would like to help them with, perhaps through a compassionate person like He wants you to be.
He cares about our bodies but He cares about our minds and souls too. Some people are so filled with bitterness and inability to forget past wrongs, but they have an "exemplary" lifestyle in what they consume. Are they any better? The also should be an object of compassion. Let's forget about referring to others as being a "slap in God's face", and think of how we could help them, or at least be kind and friendly.
Some people have addictions, including food addictions, because they have such a low self-esteem. Perhaps they have met with so much disapproval...

That is very true, God made people whole and perfect.
It is written,
"What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own?" Corinthians 6:19
"If any man defile the temple of God, him shall God destroy; for the temple of God is holy, which temple ye are." 1 Corinthians 3:17
In the Old Testament the Lord God had a temple for His people; however, in the New Testament He has His people for a temple.
The apostle Paul taught, “You are the temple of God” (I Cor. 3:16). The reason he can say that is because we have been redeemed by the death of Jesus Christ. Because of redemption, the Holy Spirit has taken up residence in the redeemed.

I would say that a part of being human is making mistakes. We are born sinners. That is why we have to teach our children right from wrong and try to correct behavior that is harmful. That is just as the Lord does for us. He is our father and no matter how old we get, he still trys to teach us right from wrong. He loves us as we love our children. Imagine that! He loves us infinity more than we love our children. As deeply I love my children, It's amazing to me that he loves me even more than that. As we forgive our children when they apologize, he forgives us when we ask for it.
Most overweight people are overweight because there is something in there life they don't know how to handle and their way of handeling things is by comfort eating. It is the same when one becomes addicted to any substance or even physical pleasure (pornography, multiple sexual partners, etc...), the only difference being is that you need food to survive. It is very, very difficult to concure when you don't understand what got you overweight in the first place. A person doesn't need cig's or alcohol or illegal drugs to survive.
The devil is a liar and him pushing humans that food will make them feel better or alcohol or drugs is a battle emotionally and physically. One can love the Lord and honor the Lord in many ways, but at the same time be self destructive. Its the battle within each person of good and evil, it is the battle for ones peace and the love in their heart. It is a battle of ones soul.
The Good News is that God's mercy is new every morning. And all one can do is pray and ask God for forgiveness and wisdom on how to beat the demon that is keeping them from God's promise. God loves us all and he wants us to not only come to him in good times, but in bad.
I love the Lord and I try to honor him in all that I do. In my work, how I raise my children, how I love my husband, how I live day to day. I have made mistakes and repeated mistakes. I have asked God to forgive me and I am still learning how to forgive myself. God loves me through it all, he's still teaching me! All I and anyone can do is accept him and his word and do the best we can. We can learn that where we've been, what we've survived, and how we choose to go on from here can either take our life or give us life. Meaning, use what you've learned for good and to help others. That is how we can praise God, because he brought us through.
Also, God gave us free will. We get to make the choices that we make in our life. Whether or not one asks God for guidance in those decisions is up to them. There are millions and millions who don't know or understand the word and the love of God. Who said that ignorance is bliss!!

Seems unkind. "I'm giving you a body, here, and I'm giving you free will. But if you have naturally low metabolism, become addicted to something, or get STDs from an active sex life, I hate you and you're going to Hell."
It's pretty judgmental of you to refer to them as attacks on God. Also, way to insinuate that anyone who does not strive for a "perfect" body type is a bad person.

I would agree that to abuse ones body is an insult to the God that made all humans. Unfortunately, many of us believers also, abuse our bodies. The Bible states that the body is a temple to the Holy Spirit for believers.

Slap is a rude word but im sure God is not pleased with the way we shaped ourselves.
I think the worst sin is to make Him upset.

GOD gave us free will.... man shows his grace upon his own life and I believe that one wears it upon his soul.... The waste they cause upon themselves will be felt somewhere, sometime. Unfortunatly some of these people fall into a rut and depression....this is NOT an excuse....but a rut of sin against themselves..... I wish they could find their way up and self help and also help from others...
