First of all, DON'T WORRY. It will be perfectly OK.
I obtained my green card through marriage 8 months ago.Don't believe in any of those stories about color of toothbrush or on what side do you have the light switch on in your bathroom. I had my paperwork taken care by a paralegal and he had done a great job. Paralegal is not an lawyer so he cannot represent you in the INS but he can fill out all the paperwork for you and be with you during the interview if you wish(that gave me peace of mind!). My friend tried to do it by herself (to save money) and it took her extra nine (!!!!) months because INS was holding on to her paperwork for silly reasons and not letting her know that they needed something else. So think about paralegal service. I believe it's worth it.
My interview was very nice. I brought our photo albums with me (they like to see them as another way of proof of your relationtip) and show the INS Officer - she went through all of them. Make sure your and his name is on the bills like :apartment rental agreement, phone bill, water bill, electricity bill. Have a joint bank account. Maybe add your name to his car at DMV. We bought a dog and the Kennel registration form has both our names. Little things like that.
But still there might be a different situation if you have never lived with him before.I don't know exaclty you situation so it might be different.
I had my Masters Degree documents evaluated here and they "gave" me my MBA, it was very easy and costed about $100. You should not have any problems to find a job. But make sure you ask all of your previous employers to write you a Letter of Recommendation. It is always very helpful because you can show potential employers that you were good at what you did. Also make sure you have a good resume when you start looking for a job.
You can always email me and I'll be glad to help you with any questions you might have. When I had to go through that process I was scared to death. Believe me!!!!! I know what you're going through right now.
Otherwise good luck and congratualtions

I faced no problems whatsoever. Once you marry a US citizen, you will obtain a conditional residency. I've been in the US since 1990 and still happily married and completely adapted to the US society and its lifestyle.
Having a degree will definitely help with obtaining a job, it is not difficult to obtain a good job with a decent pay for someone with skills and education. I can't complaint myself.
You will go through an interview process. I don't know how it would work nowadays, but it was quite simple back when I did it. As I said before, you will get conditional residency status for two years, and at that point you will have to provide documentation to prove that you remain married and have maintained a common residence, etc. After that you will become a permanent resident of the US, eligible for US citizenship after the 3 year if you choose to do so.

Bring all your paperwork. You'll eventually be interviewed by immigration separately, though it will only last a matter of minutes. Filing for legal status is an absolute nightmare, so be prepared for a thousand forms, fees, fingerprints, photos, birth certificate, police record, documents, etc. etc. etc.-- don't take it personally. Immigration treats everyone like crap. Immigration lawyers know what paperwork you need, so if you want to avoid the headache, it's worth the price to hire one.
Getting a job won't be difficult once you have your green card, and once you've got your paperwork in order, they'll give you a work permit to use while your paperwork is being processed.
As for the lifestyle- depends on where you live, just like in the UK. New York City is like London, and Kansas is sort of like the Midlands.

look on the website www.bcis.gov and download the paperwork and start to fill it out. The sooner you can file the better. You will need to see an INS doctor in the US (approved doctors listed on website) and have a health check. It costs money to file each document so save money and keep copies of everything for your records. You will need to be really organised as they are not.
The degree will help you get a job but get your transcripts sent of to an evaluation service like www.jsilny.com which costs about $120. Do this if you want to continue your education in USA, its not essential though, deal with immigration first.
A final stage is the interview. Its not as bad as you would think. Just hold on to copies of e-mails, cards, personal stuff you have sent to one another as evidence that your marriage is genuine not for immigration.
Hold on to the green form they give you when u first fly into US. You will need that. The temporary visa waiver, 90 day waiver. You will need to remember your first point of entry in the US.
Just research from the website and be really organised. Keep copies of everything and file all paperwork by registered or recorded delivery.
And they didn't ask me questions about color of toothbrush or anything like that!!

I don't have experence in marrying an American or being British but lived in America and my friend got married there (not a US citizen). She actually got married for green card reasons and she didn't have any problems until a former friend of hers called immigration.
I don't think you should have any problems. If immigration contacts you, it shouldn't be hard for you to prove that you are living together. Make sure that some of the household bills are in your name (electicity, gas etc) and maybe open up a joint bank account.
If you have to go to an interview with immigration, be prepared to aswer some very stupid questions. I have often thought about it and I'm sure if I had to go to this interview, I would fail it badly, even though I have been living with my husband for 17 years. They ask things like what colour his toothbrush is, what perfume you wear, favourite foods and stuff like that.
Good luck to you.
