Christ was the human version of the sacrificial lamb. Had to be perfect in every way, etc.
Most religions perform sacrifice of some sort, human or otherwise.
What's unique to the Judeo-Christian era and maybe a couple of others, maybe, is the requirement that only the very best be sent to altar. Many other practices actually sacrificed the weak, and those who were mentally or physically too feeble to survive on their own. That was more like euthanasia than the cruel waste of a life.
Not like it was ever pleasant!!!!!
And so, let the believers go on believing, because if all we are sacrificing now is wafer, we can all breathe much easier!

Jesus was put to the cross because that was the sentence given to him by the State of Rome. The reason he ended up there was because Herod and the Sanhedrin did not want Rome to think they were a part of the revolt Jesus was stirring up, thus the reason Pilate asked Jesus if he was king of the Jews.

The crucifixion of Christ made possible a reconciliation between God and humankind. This is called the atonement.

However, there are different theories of the atonement. The most well-known is called Penal Substitutionary Atonement and is believed by most evangelicals. It basically means that we all deserved death for our sins butJesus died for them in our place. Another theory of the atonement is called "Christus Victor" which literally means Christ the victor. According to this theory, Christ's death rescued us from bondage to sin and death.

I am in greater sympathy with the Christus Victor view, but essentially I don't think it matters exactly how it happened... what's important is that Christ's death can put us right with God and I do believe that.

It is taught in the New Testament of the Christian Bible that Jesus was crucified, buried, and rose from the dead, (and is forever alive today) because of the sins(willful disobediance) of Gods will.

This is taught in the Bible.

It does not sound like you believe this.

Do you mock everything you have ever heard or read in books ? And Why do you ?

If you take the word "your" to mean "humanity's" then yes, I do.

God has always given His message of love to the world. He sent prophets and signs and all sorts of messages and yet in general people didn't listen. So God incarnated himself into the world as Jesus to bring His message to us Himself. Again, people did not listen and Jesus was put to death for spreading God's message. (Even Pilate said that Jesus had not committed a crime that warranted the punishment.) The kicker is this - Jesus is/was/ever will be fully 100% as human as you and I and Jesus *WAS* obedient. He could have stopped or run off, but he didn't.

I'd believe it if Jesus spent eternity in Hell paying for our sins and not just a few hours on the cross especially when he knows he's god and that he is going to be alive again in 3 days.

He was pierced through for our transgressions, He was crushed for our iniquities. The chastisement for our peace was upon Him. By His stripes / scourging we were healed. All of us like sheep have gone astray, Each of us has turned to his own way; But the LORD has caused the iniquity of us all to fall on Him (Isaiah 53:5-6).

No, I dont.

Think about it for a minute. God created everything right? And he is omnisicent, right?? So, why didnt God KNOW that his creation was going to screw up so badly he was going to have to send his son to die???? It doesnt add up. Unless, of course, God's ultimate idea was to kill his son - maybe God just wanted Jesus dead. So, he created mankind as a scapegoat to blame for the death of his son.

Either way, aint no one died for me...
