My grandmother had a white long haired Persian female, and I have a Russian Blue Persian male. Both were very scared until we got to know them. My Russian Blue is now very people friendly (both only just hissed and ran). We both got ours for free, she got hers from a shelter and I got mine from my sister who got hers from a friends whose purbred had a litter. My cat is very calm and when people aren't looking, playful. He chases his tail and will only play with strings and plastic bags.

We had a silver-tipped female years ago, she was a very nice cat. My brother had the cat's sister and she was the same. They seem to be rather quiet and calm cats (at least that's the experience we had).
I didn't care for the work the long hair required. We frequently had to "shave" them at the vet's I worked for because they get "matted" if not brushed enough. Two of our friends have them and they actually have them "clipped" to avoid this problem.
If that's not a consideration for you, you would probably enjoy one.
I don't know where you live but I've seen them advertised in our newspaper for somewhere around $500. I'm sure if you check out breeders on-line you'd get a good idea of what they are asking for now.
Best of luck.

I'm not sure about the price. My cousin bought one (white with blue eyes) for $400. She was shy and lazy when we were there and slept quiet a bit.
Here's a good site for infos on Persian Cats:

I used to own a few and they are pretty stuck up cats. They are a bit expensive around $500-$600 depending on where you get it. They do tend to have upperRespitory problems due to the short nasal passage and snore when they breathe.

Hi they are usually pretty good in temprement but I guess you can get those that are mean...as to the price they can vary vastly as do most pure breeds of animals...Regards Jake

They have a lovely temperament. Look up the registered breeders assoc for your area and they can give you an idea of what to expect to pay for them
