if it is in your rear veiw mirror and getting smaller it means you probably have a turbocharged car, just remember you cant outrun "motorola" if on the dash or "a piller" it is the alarm indicator

If you are referring to one tallight being brighter than the other, it is a built-in European style rear fog light. It should only be used in foggy or misty conditions. If it is on all the time, the driver probably activated it by mistake.
