A good comeback?

Question

My son is 8 and he wears glasses. Can someone give me a good comeback for him to use when kids call him four-eyes?. Remember now, he is only 8!

I have taught my son that what others think of him doesn't matter. And he has ignored this "rubbish" for a while now, but since it is continuing I thought something else needed to be done. And I am all for his standing up for himself. I thank God everyday that he has those two beautiful eyes,even though they aren't perfect! I will tell him about the Three Stooges moves because he loves the Stooges and he will like that answer.

I can't believe "four eyes" is still "out there".

First, point out to him that making fun of his glasses is not the same as making fun of him. (There is a subtle difference.)

Tell him to say, "and I suppose you think you're the first one to think up to say that about glasses"

or "Yeah - people with glasses get called 'four-eyes'. Got anything smarter to say that than?"

Well, I will share with you a little of my goofy comebacks. <:o) When a kid (or kids) start to talk about him, tell him to say this, "The only reason I am wearing these glasses is to protect my eyes from all that spit you spray when you talk!" And, just to be able to mix it up a bit, he can also say, "I have to wear these glasses only because the sight of looking at your face makes my eyes hurt."

Ha Ha! These are funny and only slightly mean - enough so that the kids should leave him alone afterwards... and probably make him a funny guy at school too.

Have him try "Well 4 eyes see better than 2" or "Your just jealous" or "Did you know that over 1/2 the our class might need glasses and I'm one of the lucky ones who got tested and now I wear my glasses as a symbol of hope for other who might need them. You should get your eyes tested."

They will then develop a well deserved appreciation for the protective value of spectacles. You, however, may have to have a meeting with the school principal. Dont teach him to react to this rubbish. Teach him to laugh at people. Teach that people who make fun of others are hurt themselves and that is why they do it. Teach him to not take it seriously. he does not need a come back. just teach him to laugh it off. He must be sssooooooo cut with glasses.

you have to know the person who is calling him that to have a good comeback. He should use something that the other kid has wrong with him. for example, if the kid is ugly, then use his ugliness against him. i dont know if im making since here, but thats the best technique to use.

There is no good come back at this age as another 8 year old would not get it. Have him say "How would you like 10 in your 2" while holding up both fist.

OK HERE YOU MOM/DAD if he has issues with his glasses vs friends he can tell them they are special mutant glasses and he can see special things that no other person kid can! He got these from an important doctor and was told that if he wears them he will be something very important in the future

Encourage your son to thank God that he has those beautiful little eyes.

Tell him to simply say "Thank you". And if someone questions his answer, you would already explained it to him about being thankful.

well YOU have to teach your son that it dosent really matter what people think about him, its what he thinks of himself! and if he really knows that hes great, then no one can hurt him with words! it works for my kids!
