Maybe it was a coincidence but after downloading some music from the limewire site my pc kept freezing all the time and I had to turn it off at the mains and restart it all the time. Any suggestions?

You need a gig of RAM to run Limewire plus all your security software.
Avast is a great anti virus as it monitors your downloads.
Plus you need to set Windows to view file extensions. Afile called 'music.mp3.exe' is not a music file.

Open your 'my docs' folder and click Tools - Folder Options and then the View tab.
Make sure the box that says 'hide file extensions for known file types is unticked.
Click Apply then OK tosave your changes.

Before attempting to remove malware you must switch off System Restore as back up files will be hiding in there, and it will just restore itself. Go to Start - programs - accessories - system tools - system restore.
Run your anti virus and anti spyware in Safe Mode. To get into Safe Mode repeatedly press the F8 key after the bios screen loads but before Windows loads. You'll know if you made it because the screen will be at 800 x 600 and your pc will be slow.

Then beef up your security. Its easier to prevent malware getting on to your sytem in the first place rather than trying to remove it.

You need to install one firewall.
The Windows firewall doesn't stop malware on your pc from dialling out. Both these firewalls are free for personal use and stop unwanted incoming and outgoing traffic.

Since Limewire is used for so many illegal purposes, some unscrupulous people upload viruses, which people mistakenly download. This sounds like a virus problem. If you have anti-virus software, run it and hopefully it will fix the problem. If you don't, visit www.grisoft.com to download a free anti-virus program. One thing to check when downloading files from Limewire is the file size and how many people are downloading it. If you find a music file, but it is less than 1MB, be suspicious as only very crappy music files would ever be that small. The average music file size is 4MB. Also, if no-one is downloading it, this might be indicitave of it being a virus (or it could be that the musician isn't popular!).

You may have contracted a virus through limewire.

All of these are ones that I personally use and all are free.
Try this scan, its free, it removes
I-Worm/Stration · BackDoor.Generic3.GBB and .GBC · Worm/Generic.FX · Exploit.WMF

Spybot - Search & Destroy detects and removes spyware, a relatively new kind of threat not yet covered by common anti-virus applications. Spyware silently tracks your surfing behaviour to create a marketing profile for you that is transmitted without your knowledge to the compilers and sold to advertising companies. If you see new toolbars in your Internet Explorer that you haven't intentionally installed, if your browser crashes inexplicably, or if your home page has been "hijacked" (or changed without your knowledge), your computer is most probably infected with spyware. Even if you don't see the symptoms, your computer may be infected, because more and more spyware is emerging. Spybot-S&D is free, so there's no harm giving it a try to see if something has invaded your computer.

It didn't hurt anyone why is it such a bad sin? I have heard God in time does forgive us for the little things that we meant no harm to others. If you could see a sin say if it looked like blue paper the whole world be filled up with blue paper. Downloading illegally, I don't like when people do that bands put a lot of effort in their work it would be nice to get something in return.

I has been discovered reciently that Limewire contains a hole load of viruses that are released into your system, you have to keep on top of this,to avoid problems. Deleat it all together and you may loose your system. I would consult a computer Tec, or a Desktop tec.
