Because it's a good thing to do.

I am a Christian. I will give a thumbs up if it is a really good question. I have given a thumbs up to an atheist's question. I have given a thumbs down to a Christian's question. Because it was a lousy one, and I felt it was really silly.
You see, Christianity is not like a political party or a social club where we all support eachother in whatever we do. We are not trying to earn points.
And we must be honest when we evaluate both questions and answers. That is the Christan way, I believe.

Im an athiest and some christian answers I rate with a thumbs up and some athiest answers i rate with a thumbs down. Its the quality, logical nature and/or humour of the answer that makes it good, not the persons beliefs.

One Christian may consider another Christian's question "good" because of a general predisposition in favor of Christian thought. Likewise, a non-Christian may consider a Christian's question "bad" because of a general predisposition against Christian thought. It goes both ways, but either can still distinguish between good questions and provoking ones.
Good question...by the way!

The right thing to do would be to give your thumbs up to the *right* answers, whoever they're coming from.

Ditto for non-christians. Until the tool is removed, and so long as everyone is abusing it, why not?
