it cannot be done. floor painting is easy to do, tough to get it to stick. not to mention vinyl floors are fabricated so that stuff WON'T stick to them. and it's unsanitary.

I am glad you asked this question because I am thinking of ways to cosmetically improve my old vinyl floor too. I recently used a solvent free epoxy paint on my concrete basement floor and it came out beautiful. I am wondering if this would work on the vinyl floor as well? I am going to call the paint dealer that I bought the epoxy from (Pontiac Paints in Pontiac, Michigan) to get their opinion. They painted epoxy over some ceramic tiles and it looked great. Any thoughts?

Good Grief NO. I moved into a house where the kitchen floor had been painted RED. It was just about the ugliest thing I have ever seen. Kept coming off everytime I tried to mop and always looked dirty. Naturally, I had to have a new floor put in. PLEASE don't paint the old one.

No, whatever you painted on top, it would not last very long.
