It's hair color. Supposedly when somebody says it it means you hair is like brownish, like caramel colored.

I've also heard this called "tortoise shell" and just regular tone on tone highlights. Basically, it is taking hair and applying light highlights, dark highlights and an in between color of highlight. The idea is that the hair will have more depth and movement. It can be a long process and if you get it done at a salon can be expensive.

I havent heard about this term , but yes is possible to have 3 shades of the same color we call them 'levels' from 1 to 12 , or you can have diferent colors in a highlight form. another possibility i was thinking is having a shine treatment that is a glaze (glazing) , no other than clear semi permanent color that you apply and then you go under a dryer , that wont change or add any color to your hair but shine only.

It's always, always, always, the best thing to just go to a salon and get it professionally done. Otherwise, you might mess it up and just make things worse.
