You need to apply moist heat. So get a clean wash cloth and get it hot ( well as hot as you can stand it and apply to the stye. it will come to a head and go away!

My gram always used a hot tea bag, and held it over her eye 15 minutes or so several times a day. This draws out the infection. Your doc can prescribe an antibiotic ointment if it doesn't go away within a week, and if that doesn't clear it up then it will have to be lanced. HOWEVER, most clear up without incident. A stye is caused by clogged glands on your eyelids. You can prevent them by washing your eyelids with johnson's and johnson's no tears shampoo. Take a warm damp washcloth and gently rub the edge of your lid, at the base of your eyelashes. Btw Tricia, most stye's go away within 3 days, so your answer cracked me up!

They generally appear when you are run down. Have a bit of a rest and take some multivitamins. If it really bothers you, see an optometrist or your doc. He could prescribe you some maxitrol or chloromphenicol eye drops.I used to get them regularly when I was stressed and worn out, but haven't had them for a while now.

Soak a rag in hot water and hold it over your eye for about a minute. Do this often (5-10 times a day) and you'll see it get better by tomorrow evening. If it doesn't, might be something else.

I sometimes get that from wearing my contacts for too long, maybe cut down if you've been wearing them a lot recently, it might go away on its own.

old wives tale....place a warm cloth on it; when it comes to a head scratch with a matchstick (one with a white tip). On the other hand I had one that I had to go the doc (eye ear and nose doc) and he had to lance it.
