The only advantage that I can see about discussing immigration is that it is an outlet for us. Does anyone actually believe that our government is going to do what the people want them to do? Do you think that politicians will tell you anything and then do what they want to do? Isn't it all about money and power?

THANK YOU!!! Finally, something we both agree on!! I understand both sides stating their opinions, but at what point will everybody realize that fighting and calling each other names is getting us nowhere and that in the end, no matter the outcome both sides will be unhappy with the results??!! Lets act like adults and discuss solutions, we all know the problem already, why keep making it bigger??!!

The Border Fence Bill got signed into law, over the protests of the globalization fans...and it got started from citizens' initiatives...
The border fence, by itself, is not going to be a panacea to illegal immigration. Employer enforcement is just as important. I do not relish the idea of Mexico gaining full voting rights, even by proxy through 3rd parties, in US elections. Border lines are lines of territorial demarcation that separate one country from another.
Ours need to be re-established, and duly enforced. Once that has been accomplished, and it's been proven that enforcement is viable and can be accomplished at will, then talk about other stuff like work programs etc. But first, let's have those borders...

It makes the politicians happy. The press can only concentrate on one issue at a time, so long as the press are feeding us story about immigrants they won’t focus on Afghanistan and Iraq. Its infinitely easy for a politician to say they'll tighten immigration control then set out a clear timetable for the withdraw of troops.

This site is being monitored by people in government. They are paying close attention to what we say. What they will do with the information I don't know, but I think they understand that there are people willing to take action if they don't. People are angry enough to vote them out of office. And changes are being made town by town and in cities and states all across the US. Speaking out about this is very important and helps to keep other people informed.
