Girls maybe need a mother figure more than a father figure. I was short of a father figure and I consciously craved one. Humans need both; tradition is not always about stand-up collars and other nonsense. It is often received wisdom.

I think it is very important to have a father figure,( cool or uncool)
My Dad was not the most emotionally available man alive , but he was a shining example of what a Dad should be, hardworking honest, smart, fair, and above all proud of his children and grandchildren. He left this world April 18, 1983 and my world has been a much harder place to survive in without his influence.

Yes, he doesn't necessarily have to be your father but they should be male, they should be someone you respect and they should also care for you.
I speak as a father and son and know that I would be seriously underdeveloped as a person if I didn't have my father to point me in the right direction in life, someone who can give help and advice when I needed it.
It is not by accident that people also refer to God the Father, God the son and God the holy Ghost. Good Father's are important. Father's are good at lending money without any problems, giving protection and security.
Get in touch with your father, if you can't build a relationship at least you made the effort

To be honest I don't think you need a dad as much as you need a mum.................
I have not spoke to my dad for 9 yrs and I do not wish to, however I see my mum almost every day.
Luckily my little girl has 2 parents who adore her and although we are not together he is very much involved in her life, which is good for her 'daddys girl' and all!!
I suppose it must depend on the father..........some are worth having some arn't!!

I think its important for girls and boys to have a father and a mother figure in their lives. Men can't help with everything and neither can a woman. But if one is not around don't be angry or upset or hate them for it Its their lost not yours.
