Wish I could help but from the nature of what you are saying you are not in the USA and the laws of other countries are very strange to us. You do not have to pay bail till you are arrested. You never pay anyone till after you go to court and the judge decides how much and you pay to the court and not to the police. So - maybe someone is scamming your sister for extortion money. Go to the court and ask them what to do.

Hit and run is a crime for which she needed to make a court appearance and she was probably advised of that when the police got her in March. The $1500 to get the car back was just the towing fees for the impounding of the vehicle. It had nothing to do with the court appearance obligations.
Hit and run is serious so you may wish to get an attorney. The $5000 is bail, which she will get back after making her court appearance or If she pays the $500 to a bondsman, they will keep it as a fee for putting up the $5000 for her and you will not get any of that back.
If she fails to make this court appearance the court will revoke bail (she will loose all the $$) or the bondsman will come to hunt her down, if she uses them.
She must make the court appearance and clean up the matter or she will be a fugitive. As you did not indicate anyone was injured in the other car, the sentence will not be the worst, but you might still want an attorney to make a plea deal.

Call the bailiff and schedule a court date if one is not already done for her. She should qualify for a public defender if she can not afford counsel. The best thing for her to do is cooperate. She may have already paid the $1500 but there could be a civil case against her. She really needs to follow through with this. My sister did the same thing when she was 18 and they worked with her. It will look better if she contacts the courts rather than them coming to look for her. Good Luck

Why are you nervous? It is your sister they are after. She should not have run in the first place. From the minute she ran from the scene, she has continued to make one bad decision after another. If she can`t make the bail, she will go to jail to wait for her hearing. Looks like your family will be putting something up for collateral to get the bail money if she doesn`t have it.

If she has a warrant she can call the court and find out what it is about. She will need to surrender herself and go in front of a judge. I don't understand why she would need to pay the police. You need to find out what the charge is and there are lawyers that can assist her in dealing with the issue. Some lawyers are free depending on her circumstances Did you get arrested in the US?

This sounds really flaky. I don't think she's telling you everything. The police got her and she paid to get her car back, and now eight months later they're talking about bail from that accident? I don't think so. There's something she isn't telling you.

Hopefully, she'll be more forthcoming with her court appointed lawyer, and don't be sad if they don't appoint her one, that means she won't go to jail when it's over.

Either call a lawyer or the District attorney's
office and find out what is going on. If the police
caught her after she left then they know where she
is. Sounds like someone is trying to extort money.

On the warrant, there is a telephone number. Call that number & they will give you instructions on what you should do next. Ignore it & you go to jail for sure if they see you & recognize you or if they stop you for anything & check you ID. Don't waste your life hiding out. It is a terrible way to live & far too stressfull. Call NOW.

What she quite demands is to get support. Cocaine is an excessively addictive drug from the first actual time you're taking it. My sister began out the identical means while she used to be in top university. She ended up relocating out after she received expelled from university her senior yr for medications in university ( it occurred on her seventeenth birthday so she used to be attempted as an grownup and he or she used to be additionally stuck giving them to a buddy who used to be sixteen on the time so she additionally received costs with soliciting medications to a minor) Drugs are whatever you do not wish to debris with. At that factor nobody received her the support that she wanted and finally she became to heroine. It wasn't till she used to be 25 years historic within the core of a divorce with two youngsters that she received the support that she wanted ( which she simplest received in view that they have been going to take her youngsters if she did not). You did the proper factor via talking up. Yes she hates you currently, nevertheless it wont be like that for ever. She demands to get support and transparent her brain from the medications and she is going to see what occurred and love you and thanks for doing it. Remember while she behaves like that it is not her it is the medications. Just maintain loving her and get her support.

This does not sound right, they don't mail you a warrant, they come arrest you.

After they arrest you, you arrange a bond.

But if it is for real, she either makes the bond or sits in jail that is how it happens.
