Spider man costume - without a doubt!

But also, Spiderman underpants, socks and pyjamas. My boy will wear nothing else!

The underwear helps on days when he really shouldn't wear a full on Spiderman costume. On these days he is of course Peter Parker, wearing the Spiderman underwear in order to stay incognito!

Shrek - it has to be the DVD... nice extras. Especially the Karaoke Swamp Disco!

Duplo or MegaBlocks sets (for the pre-school children), a tricycle, big clunky toy trucks, Thomas the Tank Engine things, a New Blankie -- slippers of the current cartoon characters, new pajamas, there are so many possibilities -- including some of the big pieces puzzles and coloring books too. At this age, the child is MORE interested in letting his imagination go and will most likely play with the wrapping paper, the ribbons, and the boxes MORE than the fanciest toy you can find -- so make the papers fun -- there are some out there where the child can then use it as coloring papers -- so try that too.

Developmentally, 2 year olds are learning the most through their imagination. Since your son shows an interest in some of these characters...my suggestion is that you go immediately to the store and pick up several costumes on clearance from Halloween for him to dress up in! Hide them away and give them to him at Christmas. He'll really enjoy using his imagination and pretending to be some great characters. This can keep him entertained for hours....and he'll be excercising his imagination in the process, too!

I would suggest a Leap Pad type learning system. They make character activities to go with them. The child gets to learn while doing interactive lesons with his favorite characters. It is great and they last through child hood because the books are all compatible to the machines and as they grow you just get new books that are age appropriate. Kids love them. It is like an educational video game to a certain extent. Great for the car too. No tv required!

i like to give presents that inspire creativity and free thinking. how about a preschool artist easel, finger paints, colors, play dough. let the boy create his own artist' rendition of shrek and spiderman. maybe he will create his own superhero!

ha ha - if this gift is for the child of an ex, then i strongly recommend getting him a preschool drum set or keyboard!

Can you get him a very easy puzzle? They have them for toddlers (only have 8, l0 pieces, ha.) I think (I had 2 sons) the boys liked riding those 'hotwheels' (they even make those anymore?) around the place a lot. Try and get him something other than a video (kids watch enuff cartoons, lol) My boys liked 'pushing' trucks, cars (anything w/wheels) over all around the floor. I bought one of those plastic sheets w/fakie highways on it for em.. (Can do this inside, so that's great.) Kids like little boy builiding sets (I mean fake hammers, nails of course, 'saws') I think anything that makes nosie the boy will like (yeah, a LOT of swell stuff like that available.. if your ears can take it, that is!) lol.. peace-n-luv

I am going to get my 2 year old boy a magna doodle. He loves to draw and have me draw for him. I am trying to teach him the alphabet and numbers to 10. It's a cheap toy, but he loves the one at the sitter!
