I honestly want to know where faith comes from. Is it a feeling or a knowing or what? When do you first remember it, and was there ever a time you remember not having it?

I spent 15 years as an atheist with no faith.

Then I met some people I knew had something I wanted. They asked if I believed in Jesus and between us we established I believed He exsited but not that He was any more than a historical character. I had training across the ocean at that time and during that time asked God that if He existed would He give me a sign. He did but thats a long story. Still I had no faith I just understood there was a God. Knowing that however did change things. Latter I got back in touch with other members of this same group that had something I desired. They gave me a set of tapes by Malcolm Smith that did an excellent job of telling who Jesus was and what He did and what He would do for me if I asked.

At this point I had the faith that if I asked Jesus to give me the comforter He would.

This is like a scientific experiment. I studied formed a theory and figured if I completed this experiment I would get the expected result if I did the experiment correctly I would have the results I wanted to receive.

Like when you flip the light switch you understand that if you do this the light will go on. You have faith that flipping the switch will give you what you desire ===light.

So I said a sinners prayer and let God know I wanted to be His friend and that I accepted the leadership of Jesus and the comforter. I received what I desired and was a changed person. Upon receiving I also got free of charge a love for reading the Bible. Where I never could understand it b4 now every word was full of meaning and as I used what it said I began to see the world in a different manner. Now all was true that I understood and at every turn more truth and understanding. Since then I have read it completely several times and find that although this Book was penned by many contributers there is a continuous influence that is easily recognized consistant and very much a friend. I have read the Qu'ran and find this same friend there as well.

Some say the Bible contradicts itself and can be made to say anything but I know that all of God's friends know this to be false. Note not everybody who says they have faith in the Bible knows it like we do but those who do, do not disagree on much.

There is Only ONE GOD and that tells the collision among those 2 religions. Islam and Christian. The Qur'an has handiest one million variation from the day of its life till now however now not for the Bible. The Qur'an has under no circumstances been converted or rewritten with addition of any writer. The Bible in different hand has been replacing models until now and further via special authors to hold up with the difference of time. The Qur'an is the phrases of GOD Himself, as a consequence can under no circumstances be challenged with the human brain and it suits by way of all occasions irrespective of what technology are you in. That explains why it has under no circumstances been converted. The Bible too earlier than used to be the phrases of GOD however considering that that it's been converted typically, the reliability has been degraded although it got here from the identical GOD due to the fact that as i stated earlier than, there may be handiest One God.

Faith is based on knowledge. For instance, if you are looking for a doctor you look for one with good credentials who has been to medical school, has experience in his field and has a good reputation; that knowledge gives you faith in his abilities as a doctor. I believe the bible because it has proven to be historically accurate, has a number of recorded, fulfilled prophecies and it's teachings and the principles found therein do lead to a better quality of life and peace of mind. Not only that, but it gives a solid explanation for all of life's big questions, like: Why are we here? Why do people suffer and die? Why is the world the way it is? What does the future hold for mankind? All of that combined gives me faith that what the bible says will happen in the future will come to pass.

i have got faith in the quran because its a book of God that is unbiased and God said it will remain unbiased till the end of time. In the quran i find facts that are only discovered these days in modern science, like how the humans are created from scratch, untill they are born and how certain colours become invisible under water after certain depth, a colour after the other untill a depth where there is no colour visible and a lot of other things(i can go on and on). i dont see how prophet Muhammed could have came up with all this more than fourteen hundred years ago.
The quran also states that God will not accept a religion other than islam.
We find many ppl converting to islam these days when they know what its really all about, not just hear it from the media! but actually reading and asking muslims.
some converters are celeberties like the French football player Terry Henry who announced his conversion during the last world cup. Also the Brazilian Kaka announced his a few weeks ago.
These people read about islam and got to know what its really all about and decided its the right way to go.its their decision.

I was born a Muslim. No one forced me to pray or wear the head scarf, I did it when I felt it right. My faith is afeeling that comes from within. I cannot explain more. Since this is a serious question, I hope U understand when I tell U that I adore Prophet Mohammed (pbuh) and when I see the Kabba on TV, I feel such yearning to go there. The place itself make my heart pulsate. I hope U have faith in your religion too that will give U the same happiness and peace of mind I have.
Peace.

I wonder who gave your question a thumbs down? I feel yours is a legitament question. I guess some people are downright afraid to ever question their own faith and examine it beyond the "just because" point. I'm glad, on the other hand, that you were brave enough to ask it. I'll give it a thumbs-up to balance it out.

However, since I don't beleive in any of the above-listed works of literature, I'm sorry to say I can not answer your question.

To those who've answered, thanks! While I myself am atheist, I'm still fascinated by what draws others to faith.

I think it is something that touches your heart. I was raised Catholic and around when i was 18 I started questioning everything. I needed answers! I wanted to know why certain people believe certain ways, and how one religion could say that another religion was wrong for their beliefs. So after about 3 years of visiting and learning about different religions and beliefs I came to the conclusion that people actually do believe so strongly in certain religions because it touches them so strongly. I think that you know what faith is because you will eventually come across that question in your heart, at some point in your life, and something will hit home with you. You will feel that something finally connects with you that everyone has been talking to you about! That is how it felt with me. I don't remember a time of not having faith. But i remember a time i let go of what I knew ....and that time of my life was absolutely miserable!!!

To me faith is something that everyone is faced with at some point in their life. It will come sometime....a chance for everyone to KNOW what faith is. In that time whether you ignore it or find what it means to YOU is your choice.

You will know when you find it!

I really believe in God and the Bible, and faith is just something that comes natural to me. I remember being very young and trusting that this was the right thing for me. I don't go blindly accepting what people tell me as truth according to their interpretation of the Bible, it's something that God gives me to be able to tell what's right from wrong. I have faith that what I believe, I know is right. Hope that is helpful.

I was blessed to be raised in church all my life but to me faith is belief in something you cannot see. Its hard to explain but for me its not something I really question. Throughout my life my family has experienced some very difficult situations mostly with my dad's health. He is a retired fire-medic (fireman/paramedic) who had a couple of heart attacks which caused him to retire early with that we lost about $35,000 of our yearly income later on he had more heart problems & colon cancer, without God & my faith in him we would'nt have made it through those tough times. I honestly don't know how other people without faith make it through the trial of life. I hope this personal info helps you & sparks your interest to find out more!

"These trials are only to test your faith..& your faith is far more precious to God than mere gold..it will bring you much praise & honor on the day of his return." 1Peter 1:7

God Bless!

Faith comes from hearing & hearing a true word about Christ / God.

Faith comes from God. When Peter confessed Jesus the Christ and the Son of the Living God, Jesus told him that God gave Peter the faith to confess it.

Also, it is the Father who draws unto faith in Jesus.

The bible writes about perfect religion once in the bible. It writes about faith in God many times.

When one is born of God through faith (believing in ones heart) then person is given the Spirit of Truth who leads into all truth.

It's a feeling and a knowing.
