Well you're going to have to tell a person at some point... Because you don't want to keep it a secret until you take your clothes off. I know it shouldn't matter if a person really cares about you, but you don't want them to "freak out". I would just be real.. It's not a part of your personality but it is something that changed your life, and if the person really cares about you they will accept that and if they don't then to hell with them. Remember to keep your confidence. There's many people that's in the same situation and you are a strong person to want to go out and date. It it were me, if it got serious i would let that person know like hey, I hope this doesn't affect our relationship but i have prosthetics and I'm letting you know so you won't be "alarmed" or anything, but I'm not ashamed of it and I still like you as a person and I hope you still like me the same before I just told you... And if they real they would tell you they wouldn't care if you didn't have any legs or arms they would love or like you just the same, and if they actin all wierd, they can go to hell!

First, I must say I am proud of your for being such a strong young lady. You are quite brave. It is ok to feel scared of what that person my feel or react after actually seeing you without the prosthetics because we all know that we can say we won't react a certain way, but when we actually face the situation, an individual would react without thinking and maybe later realize that their reaction was not the right one, but they are only human. Don't feel bad about anyone's reaction because when people face things they are not use to, they can not tell what they will do. If you feel that you are ready for sex, then sit that person down and tell that person how you feel and say that you are concerned about their reaction to seeing you without the prosthetics and ask if he/she would like to see you without them. This way, when you do have sex, you know your mind can relax and you can enjoy yourself without wondering what he/she is thinking. I wish you all the best. I too was in a bad car accident last year. Take care of yourself.
I tried sending you an email as you requested, but it kept coming back to me, not sure why. Thank you for sending me an email.

Although you said the person you like has never seen you without your prosthetics, I'm assuming they know you have them. If that is the case, I'm sure you have nothing to worry about, as long as they know you have them. If someone really likes you then it should not be an issue. If they have no idea, then you had better have a serious talk with them.

If he cant handle you with your prosthetic legs than he's not worth it. If he knew you had them when he met you then he should not fill ashamed when it's time to get behind closed doors. This happened to you for a reason and believe me GOD made someone for everyone and this is your test to see if he is the real one for you. Push aside your shame and guilt and show the real you. Your beautiful inside and out and don't let another human being take that away from you. Good Luck

Have confidence in yourself and it wont bother the other person as long as they are caring and sensitive to you. And there will definetley be someone for you!! There is someone for everyone it just takes time to find that person. If that was me and I meet you for the first time, it wouldnt make a difference to me how you looked without clothes on as long as you feel comfortable with yourself!! Good Luck and you sound like a very nice girl!!! I hope this helps you a little.

First of all, I admire your courage to go back into the dating world! It's really hard when something like that happens but you have to bounce back and I'm proud of you for doing so! I'm married to a man but before I was married I dated both men and women (I don't care who judges me) and personally I WOULD NOT CARE! If I met someone who is wonderful inside and out then why should I mistreat her or him or something that is out of their control. Anyone who WOULD have a problem with it is someone you don't even want to know! Just keep up your confidence honey and you will always be beautiful regardless! As a matter of fact, if I wasn't happily married I'd probably ask you out! Take Care!

Well I have dated a couple of ladies who were wheelchair bound. It wasn't the wheelchair that attracted me to them. It was other features and aspects of them which held my attraction.
If you are with a man who truly loves you and is there because of you, not your physical features, then you have nothing to worry about. True love is about something deeper than one's appearance so let that be your guide. If someone feels that your prosthetic's are a detractment, then you lose a shallow person. It will be their loss, not yours.
True love will happen, just give it time.

If the person is aware of this fact then it shouldn't be an issue, if it becomes one naturally there is an adjustment for all parties concerned.
The question for you is how long did it take you to accept this fact after the accident occured? Then allow the person male or female the same amount of time.

I'm sorry to hear about your accident. That must be really tough. I don't think there is a right answer. You need to discuss it with your partner and be honest with him or her about your condition and see what is most comfortable for them. Perhaps you could start out by making love while you are partially clothed, if your partner is uncomfortable about seeing you without your prothestics. Ultimately, it is something your partner is going to have to deal with, but exposing them to it gradually might help.
