so was wondering about an alternative .Is there anything that I could get from health food shop or herbalist that would lift my mood.I also would like to kickstart my motivation into losing some weight.I am so full of oomph when it comes to helping everyone else, but it takes alot to motivate myself.

When I came off my medication for anxiety, I started taking St John's Wort and felt fantastic. It gave me loads of energy and kept me 'happy'. I have recommended it to loads of people, it works for some and not for others. Definitely don't stop taking your other medication until you have checked with your GP though, alot of drugs you need to be weaned off or you may get unpleasant side effects.

St John's Wort can help elevate mood for some people but this can cause interactions with other medication. If you really want to come off your meds then see your gp about reducing them slowly AND ask him/her if St John's Wort would be beneficial for you to try. If he/she says it might be remember that you will need to take it regularly for at least a month before any beneficial effects can be felt.

As to your weight, I would get your medications sorted FIRST and once you are more settled (whichever way you choose to go) tackle losing weight.

If you tackle too much at once you might fail at both and become even more disheartened.

I would not advise you to come off your medication without discussing it with your GP first. Many anti-depressants (if that is what you are taking) need to be withdrawn slowly.

A natural alternative is St Johns Wort, which I am sure many people will advise, but do not take this along side your current medication as it may cause an interaction.

i would suggest seeing what your docter says, if the docter says it's it's ok then try it! having oomph for yourself is nothing more than having a reason and purpose to get up every morning, try to make each minute of your day worth somthing whether it's helping someone else going some where, meeting someone or just getting out of the hoouse to do something different!

If you are taikng anti-depressants you shouldn't stop them dead as you can have real problems with rebound. Speak to your GP before doing anything.

DON"T GO OFF YOU MED"S UNTIL YOU HAVE SEEN YOUR DOCTOR!!!!! you are taking them for a reason and can cause more problems than on them.
