My dad abandoned us with all the money. He didn't leave us anything. My mom is disabled and can't work, and now me and my brothers have to come home and stop going to school and help our mom and pay the bills. I don't mind helping my mom, but I hate the fact that my dad did this to us.

I know I shouldn't hate him, but that's just how I feel about him...

It's okay to be disappointed in him but investing your time and emotions in anger is a waste for you. You, your brother and your mother can just resign yourselves to taking care of each other. Things get better as time progresses. The best revenge is success. Remember that there is karma. Whatever he sows, he'll reap. He'll get his. See a lawyer and check with the state for any assistance that you give you. You and your brother might still be able to go to school. You can alternate: one goes in the morning, one at night. No situation is too big especially when you are willing to try the options available. So don't hate him, just leave him to his own fate because people will pay for the evil they do. Just do the best you can for the family you have left.

I think it's perfectly normal for you to feel like this toward him. However your anger is just wasted - he doesn't care. The longer you stay angry the longer it burns you up inside. You need to let it go and move on. Do what you need to do for your mom. Find a lawyer - many will give you a free consult - and see if there are any legal avenues you and your mom can pursue. Good luck.

Hate is too bigger of a word, when you hate someone, the person you hurt more, is yourself. So Just do what you have to do, and since it is for your mom. it is going to make you feel so good, that you could do this for her. About your father, since he is your father, your have to love him. and just leave it alone. He did what he wanted to do. And thank God, you and your brother, can handle this, you and your brother, will reap your rewards, in more ways then you know. Things are going to work out for you all. God Bless!

Sure it's alright, that old fool has certainly deserved all the animosity, bittreness, and hatred that any father would have whom would do such a thing to his family. You have my deepest sympathies.

I think it is absolutely fine and he is very deserving of your hatred from what it sounds like. I just wouldn't waste all of your attention and anger on him, it will just eat you up and make you miserable.
