I have sponsored a girl from Malawi. I am quite excited about it.

What is your experience of sponsoring?

our family has been sponsoring our less fortunate relatives for quite some time now.. two of them have already finished college and currently we have one that is in high school... it is so fulfilling.. their happy faces when they realize that we'll be sponsoring them can certainly light a ship(",)!! it is so heartwarming how they send us greeting cards and their report cards and we see their progress in school.. and it is so rewarding if at the end of the day we realize that we helped change someones life just by building a bridge for them to reach their dreams in life(",).. im happy for you!! may you too discover the joy of sharing your blessings to the less fortunate(",) god bless!!

I sponsored a little girl from Ecuador. It was okay. I sponsored her for a year or two. I got some letters that seemed a little "canned", and some drawings.

I think they're very inefficient charities. Some funnel as little as 50% of your contributions to the needy, the rest going for "administrative expenses".

Some of the more effecient charities are UNICEF, the American Red Cross, and Catholic Relief Services.

Google them if you're interested.
