the cost of dye for fabrics was ridiculous in the old days, so bright vivid colors were available only to the very rich, and the colors red and purple were actually forbidden, by law, to be used by anyone besides the royal family(purple) and their personal guard, who wore the red. Since the royal family's personal guard were the most feared and cruel of people in society, the color became associated with evil and death, and it became associated with satan because he is the prince of the underworld, and thus royal

I've never heard that. Red is a color that has been associated with prostitutes in western cultures.
So, maybe the whole prostitution thing would be why? I don't know exactly what prostitutes have to do with Satan, though. Then again, I don't believe Satan exists.
Let's see....whenever you see comical or joking type representations of Satan, it seems that he's dressed in red. But then again, he also wears tights, so would tights be satanic? And he has a goatee, so would facial hair be satanic?
Honestly, people come up with some strange ideas. Red is also associated with Christmas, by the way. And in some cultures, it's the traditional color for brides to wear. It's just a color, for cripes sake.

Red is a liturgical color signifying passion (which connotes suffering, not just strong feeling). It is worn on the feast days of martys (and Passion Sunday) and on days acknowledging the Holy Spirit (such as Pentecost). The reason is that the color is associated with blood and with fire. The devil is also associated with suffering and fire. And then there is its strikingness. Not many people can carry off wearing red. Back then, it was reserved for cardlinals and popes, the princes of the church. Irony anyone?

It's not considered by "most people" to be "satanic." What religion do you belong to?
Red is connected with blood, obviously, and with passion, and with war and the gods of war, e.g. Mars (which planet also happens to be "red"). There's also the "Scarlet Woman" of the Apocalypse. Some of these connections may explain why some people associate it with "satanic" ideas; but relax, I doubt anybody's going to burn you at the stake for wearing a red sweater. Christians haven't done that for a few decades now.

You love the color red as do the majority of people outside the Bible Belt of the USA. In fact, long before China became Red, the color Red was considered very lucky in China. It has no negatives in India either....and there you've got the two countries with the largest populations in the world.

Never heard of it being 'In most people's opinion satanic.'
I've never heard anyone say they considered red satanic actually and I'm 34. I've heard it to be related to fire signs (Aries, etc.), warm, and depending on the shade, it can stimulate in different ways. I wouldn't worry about your religious status with God just because you like a particular color! Remember, it was PEOPLE who made up those drawings and paintings of what THEY thought the 'devil' to look like (red, with a forked tail and carrying a pitchfork, etc.) If you read the bible, he's actually a fallen angel, so I highly doubt he turned red!

Maybe from the bible. In the book of Revelations the beast was scarlet, and the waters turned to blood. You go ahead and wear red. It doesn't represent Satan, it represents guilt and judgement but not if you just want to wear a red sweater or something.

That's pretty simple. Fire and heat are (generally speaking) considered to be red or shades thereof. Since Satan is in charge of the lake or pit of fire, the color red has grown to be considered evil. Like "seeing red" when you are really angry, or that spilling the blood (which is also red) of another person is wrong or evil.

The color itself does not always carry a Satanic connotation. It can also represent the blood of Jesus or the blood of the martyrs, among a myriad of other things in various cultural traditions. Why would it be associated with Satan? Blood (death) and fire (punishment), I'd imagine.
