Belgium :

Jacques Brel, singer of "Amsterdam" and many songs, some of them have been sung in English by others. By far, one of the greatest Francophone singers of all time.
Jacky Ickx, one time 2nd of F1 World championship and several times winner of Le Mans. There are some other drivers from Belgium.
Eddy Merckx, cycling runner, Tom Boonen too.
Kim Geveart and Tia Hellebaut, athletes (European champions).
Justine Hénin-Hardenne and Kim Clijsters (2 of the very best tennis champions, ranked #2 and #3 in the WTA rankings
(and both were #1 some time ago)

I could add Ambiorix, the Belgian gallic hero who resisted Julius Caesar (Belgian equivalent to French's Vercingétorix - not sure however he is very much known outside Belgium.

Switzerland : Guillaume Tell whose legend about the apple on the head of his son is known in all Europe. Jean-Luc Godard (film director). Roger Federer and Marc Rosset (tennis players). H.R. Giger (the creator of the "Alien" and other dark monsters). Stephan Eicher (singer, known at least in Europe). Alexander Frei (soccer player).
