I know that the Holy Trinity is the Father, Son and Holy Ghost. I'm looking for more of a how is that possible. If Jesus is the son of God...how can he be God? Do you understand what I'm asking? I'm not sure how to word it and not sound like a complete idiot. So you'll have to forgive my ignorance.

No you are not ignorant. You just don't want to understand, but that is OK, we don't have to understand everything in life, if we do, then what else are we to do with out life! we need the challenge to discover the unknown, or misunderstood!

Let me try it in a different way, many other members put it so well, so I try it a bit different.

Suppose a person's father is a King, what would the son of the King be! that is how can Jesus Christ be a God.

I hope that helped, at least a little.

The Holy Trinity is simply 3 descriptions of God's work, it is like in Islam they say "besm ellah arahman alraheem"..they are definitions of the same one but with different action, The Father represents God the thinker, the Son represents God the worker and the creator, the lover..and the holy spirit is a description that God actually is a soul not a physical material..

The trinity doctrine is man-made and it had it's beginning in ancient Babylon, The Babylonians did not worship the one true God, but triads of gods, shown in historical pictures having three heads.
People should consider what the Bible really teaches about the identity of God and his Son and God's active force or power.
Here is something to think about also:
Jesus was dead for the better part of three days. If Jesus is God and was dead for that long--then who was ruling in heaven all that time? If the holy spirit is also God, then it was dead too. So there would have been no God alive to pray to those three days, no God to do anything for anyone. Satan could have taken over the entire universe since "God" was dead. Satan is powerful and could have caused complete chaos for the earth, worse than we see now, if there was no God more powerful to prevent him from doing so.
This Scripture also shows that Jesus cannot be God--""No one knows about that day or hour, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father." (Mark 13:32 ) NIV
If Jesus were God who knows all things, then he would know the day and hour, but he doesn't because Jesus is not God. And the holy spirit is not even mentioned.
Christendom has misled so many people by teaching them such a false pagan doctrine. If only people could come to know the true God (Psalms 83:18) and who he really is. Jesus tried to tell people about his Father and that they should worship his Father alone.
Consider these Scriptures also:
James 1:13--"Let no man say when he is tempted, I am tempted of God; for God cannot be tempted with evil, and he himself tempteth no man." (God cannot be tempted)
"For we have not a high priest (Jesus) that cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but one that hath been in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin." (Jesus was tempted by Satan, who is evil)
How can you draw close to a mystery? You can't.
Jesus is the mediator between us and God.
Two reasons people believe in such doctrines are found at
2 Timothy 4:3-4--"For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine, but according to their own desires, because they have itching ears, they will heap up for themselves teachers; and they will turn their ears away from the truth, and be turned aside to fables." and at John 12:39-40--"Therefore they could not believe, because Isaiah said again: “ He has blinded their eyes and hardened their hearts, Lest they should see with their eyes, Lest they should understand with their hearts and turn, So that I should heal them.”

There is ONE God.
He has revealed that He exists in three "persons", the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.

The Father is God.
The Son is God.
The Spirit is God.

But the Father is not the Son, the Son is not the Father, The Spirit is neither the Father or the Son, etc.

Each of them have a distinctive personality. But each is fully God.

Can we "understand" it. Not really, that is why He REVEALS it.

They each have the same nature. Ice, Water, and Steam have distinctive "personalities:; but each has the same nature, H2O.

The Bible shows very clearly that there is only one God, and yet that there are three personal distinctions in His complex nature, traditionally referred to as "three Persons in the Godhead"—God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. Each is distinct from the others but never acts independently. They are one in nature and purpose. This mystery is called the doctrine of the Trinity, though that term is not used in the Bible. The teaching, however, is present in seed form in the Old Testament and is revealed explicitly in the New Testament. Note passages such as Matthew 28:19; John 10:30, 14:26; 2 Corinthians 13:14.

Our finite minds cannot understand or explain this mystery of God, which is nevertheless a fact. We must accept the truths found in the Word of God by faith even though we ourselves cannot comprehend them fully; read Hebrews 11:1,3,6 and 1 Corinthians 2:5-10;14; 13:12. It is really not surprising that the infinite God should be complex in His nature beyond the ability of finite humans to comprehend! This doctrine is absolutely essential to New Testament Christianity. Theologians have pointed out that if it were not true, the Bible would be unreliable, Christ would not be divine, and His death on the cross would not atone for our sins, being merely the death of a martyr.
Christians do believe that Jesus was not only fully human but also fully divine - that is, that He was God in human flesh. One reason is because of Jesus' own statements about Himself, such as His assertion that "I and the Father are one" (John 10:30).

How could Jesus die if He was God? One way to understand this is to realize that when Jesus' body died on the cross, He did not cease to exist. Yes, His body was dead—but His soul or spirit was still alive (just as ours will be when we die). Just moments before He died, we read that "Jesus called out with a loud voice, 'Father, into your hands I commit my spirit'" (Luke 23:46).

A far more important question about Jesus' death, however, is this: Why did He die? The Bible makes it clear that Jesus knew His enemies would try to put Him to death—and yet He refused to escape. Why? For one reason: Jesus came to become the final and complete sacrifice for our sins. We deserve to die for our sins, but He died in our place.

Why did He do this? He did it because God loves us and yearns for us to come to know Him and to love Him in return. He did it because He wants to forgive our sins and make us part of His family forever. Don't keep Christ at a distance any longer, but by faith open your heart to Him and commit your life to Him today.

The World Book Encyclopedia, Britannica, other reputable reference materials say that this is a Platonic ( pagan) idea engrafted into the churchs' teaching by Augustine of Hippo.

Many scholars--including prominent Catholics, and protestants--acknowledge that this doctrine did not develop not until 400 years after Christ's death. This doctrine, according to these scholars, is strange to the 1st Century Christians. Further, according to them not one Biblical verse support this doctrine if the Bible is examined closely. Those who try to find Biblical proofs to this pagan doctrine are actually twisting the Bible to suit their beliefs.

According to a friend of mine who is a priest, the doctrine of the Trinity could be likened to an egg. An egg consist of the shell, the yolke, and the white substance. There are 3 major components but 1 egg.

If I'd start to describe God to you, I'd use terms as a person who loves you very much, who wants to let you grow up wiser and as a better person. Who wants to help you grow up. Who would be very enthousiastic if you'd do as he'd like you to do, but still would love you if you didn't. A person who knows better than you about the "world", a person who is always there for you, who would really like to protect you and prevent you from evil. Who would say to you it's not wise to do this and that. etc. If I'd say: how do we name someone who acts like this? You'd answer: he sounds like my daddy. The feeling we have with the word "father" are about the feelings I described above. It's a lot easier to describe God as a Father, than use all those words, which still aren't a description of all aspects of God.

Another aspect of God is given with the words "the Son". Not any son, but "The Son of God" i.e. Jesus. We have heard a lot of stories about Jesus. And if I use the word Jesus, you'd have a lot of ideas about how you'd expect the Person Jesus to be. All those aspects are also description of part of who God is.

But that still doesn't describe all aspects of God. A third descriptive term is the "Holy Spirit". Not any spirit, but the Spirit God promised us to help us live in this world and make proper decisions. It is the part of God that is in us. God gave us part of Himself. We describe that as the Holy Spirit.

So the Holy Trinity are three descriptive parts that describe three different major aspects of who God is. This image will help us understand who God is and what He wants us to do. I know, the image is not perfect, there are still a lot of aspects of God that are not described with this image, but it will be sufficient for us to fill a life time of study to understand only partly who God is.

Really I wounder my dear Christians....
I asked several Q's about this subject and this lady is asking the same and it seems from your answers that you are not clear of your faith, and we are not trying to play a game we are serious. This is bread and butter of religion and should be crystal clear beyond any doubt.
ALLAH is not trying to pull our legs! and he should be reached by every human being or every creature.
So, Do you think GOD the spirit and GOD the father will die ? if no why? if yes? whom going to control the universe? and if no why the GOD son died? and even not died but killed????
Do you think a GOD who created such a huge and fantastic universe will be killed by Jew????? and can't protect his son???
I think the essentials of faith should very clear and beyond any doubt.
To us as Muslims the things are clear, even if you ask a little boy, about the basics of his beleives, he will answer without any hesitation. I wish we can get a clear answer.
