My puppy just recently got his rabies shot now their is a cyst like lump in the area where the shot was given. Is this normal? I worry about it being something else but it popped up so quickly after having the shot. It doesn't seem to hurt him at all and he is acting like his usual self. If this is normal how long does it last and when should I have it checked out by the vet?

It is very common to have a lump form at the vaccination site. Just keep an eye on it, and if it begins to grow, have it checked by the vet. It may or may not reabsorb, but, unless it grows, it doesn't pose a health risk..it can become encysted, and then begin to grow, but that usually takes quite a while..
I recently had one removed from one of my dogs, as it began to grow 4 years after the vaccination.

My dogs usually get this bump too and normally they're okay, but there was one time when I had to get the bump drained. I would just worry about it if it doesn't go away after a few days or if your dog isn't acting normal. Your best bet is to call the vet that gave the shot. He/She may take a look at the dog for free.

this is very normal and happens to almost every animal, when given the shot, it goes under the skin and will take a few days to a week to dissipate. If the puppy starts running a fever or starts acting "weird" take him to the Vet for a possible allergic reaction, it shouldn't be that though, they usually react within minutes to a couple of hours if they're going to have a reaction.

In maximum states canine would desire to have their rabies tag on. Please examine your state regulations. alongside with their canine license. A tag isn't data they have their rabies shot. somebody would have a 2007 tag yet that does no longer mean the shot is expired they'd have a three year shot. Having a tag on a canine does no longer mean that's vaccinated, you would be able to desire to have the paper paintings from the vet to lower back it up. ( I even have seen circumstances the place a canine has yet another canine tag on and so on) The rabies tag is yet in any different case for AC or somebody to touch the vet to verify guidance or to locate you the owner. In PA whilst a canine leaves the vendors materials their tags would desire to be on their collars.

My dog got the same thing. It lasted about a week and then it went away. She was fine except for the bump. Your dog should be okay too. If she shows any signs of not feeling well take her in, but if not don't worry about it.

That's pretty normal - just a small localized allergic reaction. If it has not subsided in a couple weeks, you may want to get it checked out, but it's very common and should go away.

Dont worry. My puppy also had a lump after vaccinations. It was there for several days and then just went away.

Could be an allergic reaction to the shot. Please take your dog to the vet.
