Many a time i have been driving along and seen children in the back seat of a car bouncing around with no seatbelts on or any restraint,m whilst there parents are belted up themselves. Does this mean that the childs lives are not as important as the parents. I have a daughter and no matter where we go i always make sure she is strapped in, be it a 5 minute or 30 minute journey, it doesnt take 2 seconds to strap them in!!!

just because a person has gave birth to a child doesnt make them a good mother, i wonder sometimes really i do.i think their just ignorant that anything could happening to their child they probably think there a good driver, if only they knew its not just them driving out ther its all the others as well.
lets hope they get caught sooner rarther than later for the sake of the kids.

You are not alone on that statement. I think it is an absolute disgrace that any one carrying a child in the car should not have them belted up. let's face it if something happened to their child out side of the it would an outrage that some one could hurt their child like that but then they can drive around without a second thought for their own child's safety.

There should be a more serious charge for any body carrying children without a safety belt.

(Just a note to person in UK..... I'm in Ireland and a hefty fine doesn't and won't stop it.)

I used to tell my daughters' that the car can't start until we all had our seatbelts on! it worked a treat and now they automatically put them on no arguements.
It's a case of disapline which unfortunately a lot of parents lack. I was totally freaked by a video in a postnatal class of what happens to the child if they weren't strapped in. ALL new parents should see it as it really put across the message.

You are so right- nothing makes me more upset than when I see a child who obviously is supposed to be in a child seat- sitting in the front or bouncing around all over the back seat. It makes me want to write down their license plate and call the police on them. It takes 2 mintutes to strap in your kids- it also takes two minutes for them to die in a car accident- BUCKLE them up!!

because they are ignorant stupid ******** who shouldn't be allowed to have children
i was at the scene of an accident where a 4 year old had gone through the windscreen as he wasn't wearing a belt and was standing in between the seats, sorry to say he didn't make it and all for the want of 1/2 a brain cell in the parent to make him wear his belt

Right on!! I have seen about four stories this year in my area of children being killed in car accidents that would not have killed them if they had been buckled in. It drives me crazy. I hate it when I see this. Another example I see all the time here is mothers holding their children on their laps in the front seat.

because growing up in the 60s many cars only had seatbelts on the front seat so some of them grew up when you could only put on seatbelts if you were in the front seat...

You have to know the whole story before you start judging though.

Maybe those kids *were* buckled in, but decided to be risky and unbuckle. Maybe while you were watching them bounce around in the backseat, mom and dad were in the front telling them "You better get buckled back up!"

Maybe mom or dad was on the phone while driving and they knew they could get away with it so they unbuckled.

Maybe they were buckled but the seat belt was loose and they were able to move around more freely.

See, you have to know details before you start thinking these parents don't give a rats ***, but yes there are always those parents who could care less and that bugs the hell out of me!
