ok, now that i am older and past the self-conscience stage of wearing braces as a kid. i wanted to know if any adults had braces and what kind of insurace or plan you had to help pay for them. i know health care varies form state to state and for me living in NJ the dentist said it will cost around $5,000. if anybody from the philadelphia area had work done cheaper please refer the dentist.

That price for adult braces seems to be about the average or normal price.

It all depends on what kind of healthcare program you currently have, and specifically, what % of health related bills they pay for you.

Call your healthcare provider 1st and check to see how much of the bill they pay for dental services.

You don't really have much choice for how much it will cost you to get the braces, unless you are willing to change healthcare providers just to pay a little bit less for braces, which really wouldn't be worth the effort in my opinion.

that's about average. it's always a little more expensive to have it done as an adult because the orthodontist is prepared for it to take longer.

there is no problem with having a general dentist do it, especially if it is cheaper. if your case is complicated then you might be better served with going to the orthodontist regardless of price.

i promise, no matter what the price, your only regret will be that you didn't do this sooner!

Actually you should have braces put on and maintained by an orthodontist.... not just a regular dentist. There can be health reason for braces also, like as a treatment for TMJ, teeth clenching, headaches, etc. You should check & see what your insurance covers.
