Ford rangers have a problem with the brass fuel float. The wire holder wears a hole in it after a few yrs. The part is about 5 or 6 bucks at the dealer. It takes a couple of hours to fix it. You can either drop the tank, remove the sending unit and replace the float. Or you can do what I did, I had a couple of friends come over and we unbolted the bed of the truck, then pulled the sending unit. Dropping the tank is harder b/c there isn't much room to work in.

On the top of the tank there is a wire that goes into the sending unit. Disconnect this wire and ground it. If the gas gage moves to full, then you need a new sending unit. Drain the gas out of the tank and drop it down so you can see the screws around the sending unit. Remove the screws and the sending unit and replace with a new one. Put the tank back in place, refill with gasoline and away you go.

ok, If the gauge reads finished all of the time, you have in basic terms lost the floor on the sending unit. discover the floor and be sure it has a sturdy connection. If no longer basically replace the sending unit (80s dollar at Autotzone right here for the two.3l).you will ought to drop the gas tank( be sure it relatively is approximately empty) no longer too undesirable of a job as long because of the fact the tank is approximately empty..
