The formulas in hair dye have really advanced in the past few years. I also notice that my hair looks a lot healthier when I dye it. It should be OK. The conditioners in the dye will temporairily seal the hair cuticle, and the ends will be less noticeable. If you are good with your hands and can make even lines, you should be OK to trim just a quarter-inch off your own hair. Just start small so you don't botch the whole thing and have to head to a stylist. I would dye my hair, style it, look it over and evaluate how bad your ends are, then lightly trim them. Good Luck!

It is always a bad idea to try to cut your hair by yourself unless you have A LOT of experience. It is okay to dye your hair as long as your ends aren't horrible. It is always best to get your hair trimmed every 6-8 weeks. If you try to cut your own hair, you may end up doing a bad job and hating what you've done. Just spend the money and go to a salon. Your hair will thank you.

Get your hair trimmed first; this will prevent the damage from going any further. It is probably a bad idea to cut your split ends yourself as your hair may come out uneven; it only costs about $20 to get a trim.

You should trim the split ends first before you dye it. If you don't the ends will take in more color cause they are more porous. I don't recommend trimming your hair yourself...unless you're double jointed cause it's about impossible to get the back of your hair even!

I would get your hair trimmed professionally; only to be on the safe side and to be able to have someone else get your hair line straight and even. I would also suggest getting your hair trimmed first before dying it, that way it looks a lot healthier.

I'd start off dying, then cut the ends after. If you're good at cutting your own hair, do it!

i would think that cutting them off by your self is a bad idea becausing you can;t see very good and they are just dead hair so it would be ok to die them but it might make it look worse!

the ends of ur hair may not hold the color as well as the roots if you dont trim it, but i wouldnt recommend trimming it yourself, it may end up choppy.
