I'm trying to get the most out of my ticketless travel award. From what city to what city will give me the most expensive flight?

Lets speculate that someone wanted to sell his/her ticket on Ebay but he/she can only sell a credit (e.g. $256 towards a flight). Ebay does not allow selling of a voucher. So one woud redeem the most expensive trip available from Southwest and then redeem it for credit. That is why this person needs the most expensive flight. Has anyone ever sold a voucher on Ebay before?

Uh?

Keep in mind there are usually blackout dates for a free ticket. The airline I work for only has a few seats available for flight for the free tickets so a lot of times you are limited. There is no simple formula for cost, cost rises are more seats are sold, but if more seats are sold you are likely to not get one. Some locations are also cheaper based on supply & demand, not necessarily distance. If you try to screw over SouthWest it will most likely just be you getting screwed over in the end.

The Most Expensive Flight

Best way to check that is to go to the Southwest web-site as fares change all the time. Probably the places furthest from each other that Southwest flies to would be highest. www.southwest.com
But you might want to consider WHERE you'd like to go, as going for the greed of most expensive will not necessarily be the most pleasurable destination for you, will it?

Why the hell would you want to do that? The longest flight I can think of (there may be others) is PVD-Providence to PHX-Phoenix. But do you want to go to either place? And wouldn't you have to start out there to begin with?

Finally the larger issue is that "free" aspect and getting the most value out of your reward. Yes, the most expensive is one way to go.... to me, to also sounds absurd and juvenile. Another way is keeping it on hand in case of emergency, for either you or a family member. Emergencies happen all the time, and you know or should know that last minute tickets are EXPENSIVE... this reward can save your butt. Another way is to fly to somewhere you actually want to go to.
