Can I have both Firefox and IE 7 on my pc and use both as I really like some featues of firefox and IE7 can it be done?

yes. Just choose which one you want to use when you want to use it by clicking the desktop icon of the prefered program.

They can go together. I suggest Firefox for intense browsing and password saving (Home computer) and IE7 for multiple page surfing, and office work, not good for pass saving.
Here is what I found:
Names
Internet Explorer - Microsoft leaves no doubt what their products are. If they made toilet paper it would be called Butt Wiper. Internet Explorer isn't a bad name, but it's not spectacular.
Firefox - On the other end of the spectrum, the name Firefox gives no clue to what it is. Could be a car? 80s video game? Lame comic book superhero? Flaming dish at a wild game restaurant? A browser would probably be your last guess. No matter, it is a much cooler name than the utilitarian Internet Explorer.

Domain Names
Firefox - firefox.com Some kind soul donated the domain to the Mozilla Foundation. At least they own their own domain name.
Internet Explorer - internetexplorer.com Microsoft doesn't even own this one. It's one of those generic search portals masquerading as an IE site.

Mascots
Internet Explorer - The big blue e with a swirly around it. A nice simple graphic, but not necessarily a mascot. However, with Microsoft's history of mascots (Clippy, Bob), maybe it's better they just stick with a letter.
Firefox - A giant fox with his tail on fire attacking the earth. That's the stuff of nightmares. Not as scary as a communist Godzilla but close. It's a cool graphic but Internet Explorer has to win something doesn't it?

Firefox - Proselytizing ubergeek. Loves freedom, choice, and tabbed browsing. Just wants to "improve mankind with Open Source Software." Oblivious to market forces and the power of money. Seeks other geeks to join in on the evangelism.
Both are equally annoying.

Conclusions
It was a close battle, but Firefox edges out a victory against the Internet Explorer by a score of 3-2 with 1 tie and wins our Technical Award of Excellence.

Yes - its what you should do! Don't try to uninstall Internet Explorer, its heavily integrated with Windows Explorer (your folders!)
You can have as many browsers as you want, I have 3; I also use Opera.
You can make Firefox your default program by going to Start - Control Panel - Add and Remove programs.
When the box comes up click the Set Access And Defaults button on the left.
Set Firefox as your default browser in the main pane and save the change.

Yes, I use both on my computer. I put them in my quick launch so I can quickly switch. Firefox is my default and preferred because of better security and interface. I keep IE as a backup since not all sites use firefox.

Firefox is an incredible device and that i think of youre smart to maintain the two on the device. the suitable reason IE is slower is that extra companies load the carp on it. All those toolbars and advert ins, and "helpers" rather sluggish each and everything down. If it have been stripped, you will possibly want digital measurement to tell the version. Firefox extensions decelerate firefox too. i decide to advise having the two on each and every device. Dont think of of IE and firefox as opposition, think of of them as companions doing the comparable job.

Yes, but one has to be your default browser. I use Firefox for sites with Flash on - as they tend not to work right with Internet Explorer. But if you go to my site and some others you don't hear the music in the background with Firefox.

You can install and use IE and firefox simultaneous with no problem . Actually you can install as many internet browsers as you want because they don't interact and should work just fine.
I'm using IE, Firefox and Opera :)

Yep... I switch back and forth all the time. One will have to be your default, so that if you click on a link in email it will open in one or the other, but both will work if you click their repective icons in your Start menu.

I`m using BT Yahoo browser, IR 7 and Firefox.
It just depends what mood I`m in.
