IN ADDITION:

I never said I was an athiest...I would like to add that I do beleive in God, but I don't presume to know EVERYTHING that is his/her/it's WILL. I am not asking this about normal people...I am asking about the religious CRAZIES that are ruled by their beliefs that are unchanging and rigid

My dad's like this. He's like this with everything, especially where it comes to the woman in his life.
My good friend since jr high is like this, but only after a stint in wicca, and having gotten rid of her goth but also abusive husband.
These folks are fragile, and to upset anything they believe is to challenge the very foundations of their mental and emotional survival.
Would it be wrong to use the notion of a deck of cards here?
At any rate, any slight wind blowing on their belief structure can bring the world crashing down around them.

Acknowledging logic would be the end of their faith.

The only defense a religious person has to maintain his faith, is to maintain his ignorance.

I actually watched some southern radio DJ a while back, hunting ghosts on his morning show, for Halloween. (They have a syndicated TV show) They showed a little access panel on the wall appear to be pushed from inside, as if someone was inside it. They of course screamed like little girls and ran out of the "haunted" house.

This DJ's response was something to the effect of "There are some things that the good book tells us we shouldn't know about. So I think we'd best just leave that house alone."

I was appalled at this idiot. Besides the fact that the entire thing was likely staged by him... they were standing 10 feet from the little trapdoor. And rather than open the door and clarify why it was trying to open, they ran away and ASSUMED it was a ghost.

And we all know what happens when we assume things...

Idiots...

To them, God's powers are limitless. He can sidestep the laws of physics. He is not bound by logic. He can do anything, and it isn't important whether we understand, or even whether we are capable of understanding, his reasons for doing things. I don't find it at all surprising or hard to understand that people would want to have such a being as an ally. Now, believing it is another thing...

Fundies don't run on logic thats why. Their entire world view is dictated by some religious authority such as Jerry Falwell, Pat Robertson or some religious text which they take to literally word for word truth about everything.

Could be that your logic is flawed. Could be that your logic is weak. Could be that their faith overcomes your attempted logic.

Why do you want "to argue" in the first place?

they are taught from a very early age not question their religious heritage and to shun the laws and principles of logic & philosophy in favor of a biblical literalist, "sola scriptura" mindset. it sucks, but it is their culture. indeed, it is their "way, truth, and life".

my advice: avoid them like the plague. if they chase you, try waving your arms frantically and yell something like "I HAVE EXPLOSIVE DIARRHEA!!!"

How are you going to argue with someone who believes in talking snakes, talking donkeys, people turning into salt, and a magical ghost knocking up virgins?
