Typically they are gas pockets that form around those areas, and get stuck. However though, if the pain does not go away after just a few minutes...and it lingers, or becomes worse...I encourage you to see a physician immediately; especially if it is near the heart area. Also, if you begin to feel like your left arm is numb, tingling or any other pain...also see the doctor.

What you d escribe is verrrrrrry much like the kind of symptoms people (particularly women) get when the heart is screaming for attention because something is seriously wrong. An EKG and regular chest X-ray are not likely to pick up on the cause. The shortness of breath, the feeling of "tightness" or "pressure" in the throat and neck area, the sensations in the neck and down the arm, and the feeling of nausea in the stomach are huge red flags, and flashing neon lights.
I suspect you might be an older woman (as opposed to one in the 20s/30's) but regardless of that, you need to not walk, run, to your doctor , or to the ER and have appropriate tests done that will precisely pinpoint the problem. A significant number of people who die from some kind of heart crisis, do so because they either do not recognise the symptoms, or they are in total denial, and do absolutely nothing

I agree that gas can cause the pains you describe. The symptoms typical for a female having a myocardial infarction (MI) are: lightheadedness, nausea, leg swelling, chest pain, shortness of breath, chest fullness, dizziness, diaphoresis (profuse sweating), back and/or shoulder pain and gastrointestinal upset. You have clearly stated that both your ECG and CXR are negative. Anxiety can also cause the symptoms you've described and I'm not convinced that there is cardiac involvement. However, you should be taken to an ER at the onset of one of these "attacks" to rule out MI for your own peace of mind. Just say "chest pain" and you'll be taken first. A simple STAT blood test looking for cardiac enzymes which are produced by damaged muscle will reveal MI or not.
Are you worried or anxious about anything going on in your life right now? Are you often bothered by intestinal or stomach gas and bloating?
OTC Gas-X or an equivalent simethicone product can be used to treat the gas. Speak to your doctor about possible medication for anxiety if you believe that this is a major factor. Then get yourself a therapist to help you identify sources of anxiety and to help you develop effective coping skills.

My apologies but I feel the need for a joke:
Did you take the pins out of your shirts?
That said, in all seriousness:
SECOND OPINION!!!
