Hasn't anyone read the article recently that chose New York as the politest city in the world.
i am originally from the East Coast of Canada..... friendly Newfoundland, to be exact, now living in Ontario, and can remember the first time I went to NYC for a conference. I was PETRIFIED... of the mafia, the fashionistas, the theatre crowd, you name it!
Imagine my surprise to find honestly friendly folk who went out of their way to help and then some. I am in New York several times a year for pleasure. I truly think it is my favourite city in the world, and the people are great. Don't believe stereotypes. there are stuck up, nasty, rude people everywhere, even in a lowly East Coast fishing village.

Depends on who you talk to and where you go in New York. There's stuck up people in every State.

sigh...stereotypes. That is a general perception. I visit NYC alot, also from atl. And i've actually found that New Yorkers CAN be some of the friendliest people! But you know, it does depend on the person

Not true. New Yorkers are some of the nicest people in the world. Talk to them first, ask them a question and they'll go out of their way to help you.

All New Yorkers have a reputation like that. Just go without an attitude and be respectful to people. You'll have a good time.

I lived there and worked there and yes, there are some pretty snooty women. But you get them everywhere. And it also depends on which neighborhood you're in while you visit NYC, like the upper east side/west side, etc.

thats not true-its all stereotyping. we have the same kind of ppl everywhere. of course some women r stuck up-but that should catergorize all of them, there r many nice ppl in new york

Yeah they do... there are a lot of women that are tourists or from the suburbs as well
Best city for its women I've seen is Montreal.

well there not stuck up there just cocky and most all of them r that way should be able to tell who they are but all women r not the same

Most New Yorkers are rude and ungrateful. They say things to each other on a daily basis that would earn them a serious beating in the Midwest. Maybe their mothers didn't raise them properly. 9/11 couldn't have happened to a nicer bunch...
