well, since you're the same lady who asked about making your dog MORE aggressive then I think you're screwed...now you want an aggressive dog that is friendly to cats, but nasty to everyone else that might steal her?
yikes.

You're the boss, not the cat or the dog. Just bring them inside, and watch them. If you see the dog do something that looks like it's attacking or being mean to the cat, say "Be nice to the kitty!". If you see the cat do something to the dog, just intervene from behind, pick it up and say, "Be nice to the dog". But regardless of method, they will through time, get along, the longer they live together, with you. My cat and dog get along fine, but it took time. I've had both toegether since Spring 2001. I had the dog first, and she came to my mother in winter 97.This year, I have both. You can imagine how long, they've known each other.

Well, by not allowing them to mix in your home, you've enabled your cats to keep a distance from your dog. Someone else on here had a gate up to prevent the dog access to the cats.
Cats and dogs can get along, or at least learn to tolerate, but you have to give them the chance and the time to do this. There isn't much you can to to "make" it happen. Best thing is to make sure your cats have places they can "hide" from your dog when they want to (like under the bed, up on a dresser) and otherwise, let them all have run of the house. If your dog is hyper, it may take time for you cats to become okay with the dog. My Doxie and my cat are best buds, but my American Eskimo prefers to keep the cat at a distance cuz she doens't care for the cat.

Use a baby gate to seprate the rooms , place the cats in 1 , an the dog in another , let them Smell an see each other through the gates. that should get them used to each other, an maybe a month or so .. they should be good !

You can't make them...just be nice to all..if you can at the same time.
The cats (if they are smaller) will try to be more aggressive than the dog, and that's for their defense.
My cat ripped a Jack Russell Terror in the nose, when he broke out of his collar from the owner and went after her...she took it so far, turned around and sent him flying...with a bloody nose!
Bet on the cat!,,but if it's a doberman or rotewiler or pitbull....no survivor.

well i live in an apartment with no yard and i had a cat for 5 years before i got my dog. they had no choice but to stay inside with eachother. we taught the dog that it was bad to chase the cat and the cat, well, she just does what she wants. at first she stayed under the bed, but now she cuddles with the dog. it took a month, but they got used to it. like i said they have no choice. animals will adapt to the environment they are given. if you are worried about your dog hurting your cats try crate traning. it worked great with my dog. good luck

You can't "MAKE" the animals get along with one another. If the animals have been kept separated, you will have to train them, over a period of time, to get used to one another's company while also providing them with calm but firm correction when they misbehave.
At our shelter, when we get litters of puppies in, we raise them with cats around so they're always used to them.

Let them sort it out on their own; I have a Shepherd and a Springer and they were left to their own devices with the cats and I have never had a problem

if the dog is a puppy its ok, I had the same situation. the dog will get used to the cats, and the cats wont harm it. the cats should smell the puppy and share with it, and you should spent the same time with your cats...cats are yealous.
