Once you physically have an outbreak it takes 10-14 days for it to clear up. If it's herpes (cold sore) than medications just make it less severe. L-lysine is an amino acid that clears it up really good and it's inexpensive (I use it). If the cold sore is really bad and making it so you can't eat than go to the dentist and they can rx a viscous lidocaine. NOTE: Any mouth sores that last longer than 14 days needs to be evaluated for possible cancers and/or other abnormalities!!!!

Cold sores are caused by Herpes virus. If you have the virus in your system they can tend to appear every now and then and will go through their development process then gradualy get better. You can use the products that contain the viral antibiotic (active ingredient aciclovir) like Zovirax to try and 'kill' them off - but you need to catch them early for best effect. (You should be certain that it is a Cold Sore before using this though - see your MD/GP). The bad news, once you have the virus it you can't get rid of it - but the aciclovir will nip-it in the bud each time - normally it will only tend to get you if you are run-down and or fatigued. So getting some rest and eating better will generally help keep you healthier!

If in fact it is cracking at the corner of your mouth that has become sore and infected then this could be due to a B vitamin deficiency. Eat more Marmite on toast!

attempt dabbing teatree oil on coldsores each couple of hours. Use a sparkling cotton bud to do this every time. to maintain them away you need to spice up your immune equipment as they generally come on while a individual is overtired. So, a great sort of sleep willl help and you will possibly be able to take echinacea to spice up the immune equipment.

And now for the best answer, and one that works. Cut a clove of garlic in half and rub it on, especially before bedtime, it will be gone in no time at all.

If it is a cold sore, my wife swears by Zovirax, again, available at most good pharmacies, and probably your local supermarket, too.

the best thing in the world (maybe a grand statement - but it's allways worked for me) is a product called zovirax. it doesn't take a lot and will work wonders

nip to the chemist and get some cold sore cream.
Cold sores are highly infectious, especially to people with cuts or open skin like people with eczema.
